LATE DRAMA: Blake Rutherford blasted a three-run homer in the top of the 10th inning, leading the Winston-Salem Dash to a 10-8 victory over the Salem Red Sox on Wednesday before an announced crowd of 2,168 at Haley Toyota Field. The Dash (20-13) completed a three-game sweep of Salem (17-16), which has dropped four in a row. DECISIVE 10TH: With the new extra-innings rule placing a Dash runner on second to start the 10th, Winston-Salem wasted little time taking control. Alex Call singled to put runners on the corners before Rutherford unloaded a deep drive over the fence in right-center. Salem plated one in the bottom half and brought the tying run to the plate, but Chris Madera rapped into a double play to end it. ADMIRABLE FIGHT: The Sox tied the game with a three-run eighth inning, taking advantage of a throwing error that allowed Jerry Downs to reach leading off the frame. Bobby Dalbec and Tyler Hill followed with run-scoring hits before Santiago Espinal laced a two-out RBI single that knotted the score at 7-7. The Sox had a great chance to take the lead, but C.J. Chatham popped out with the bases loaded to end the inning.
