The Halifax and Huddersfield Union’s junior team got off to a flying start in the Yorkshire Inter-District League by winning their opening match 26-10 against Teesside at West End last Sunday. They led 8-4 after the morning foursomes but won eight of the 12 singles matches, with two halved, to set them up nicely for the next match against the strong Sheffield team at Huddersfield on Sunday, May 13. Foursomes winners: James Edwards (Huddersfield ) & Harry Mowl (Crow Nest) won 6 & 4, Ben Walker ( Huddersfield ) & Matthew Holden ( Lightcliffe) won 7 & 6, Oliver Caton (Crosland Heath ) & George Hanson (Crosland Heath ) won 6 & 4, Louie Walsh (Crow Nest ) & Dylan Shaw- Radford (Huddersfield ) won 4 & 3. Singles winners: James Edwards won 2 & 1, Matthew Holden won 7 & 6, Oliver Caton won 7 & 5, Ben Walker won 7 & 6, Seb Crabtree won 4 & 2, George Hanson won 9 & 7, Max Nicholson won 6 & 5, Kian Sutcliffe won 5 & 4 .
