By John Shea Updated 4:05 pm, Thursday, June 28, 2018 The Giants were two outs from a three-game sweep, their fifth straight victory and their first eight-win homestand since 2012. Then closer Sam Dyson coughed up a two-run homer to DJ LeMahieu, and everything changed. The Giants seemed destined for an 8-7 victory, but LeMahieu had other ideas. His homer gave him a career-high five RBIs, and the Giants fell to the Rockies 9-8 in a game that was played at AT&T Park but seemed more like Coors Field. Instead of heading to Arizona 4 ½ games behind the first-place Diamondbacks, the Giants are 5 ½ back. “We’re OK with where we’re right now, considering everything that’s happened,” manager Bruce Bochy said before the game, referring mostly to the constant movement on the disabled list. “We hope to have a better half as far as injuries and also our overall play.” Chris Stratton gave up five runs on eight hits in four innings, but it didn’t seem to matter because the Giants rallied back from 5-2 and 7-5 deficits. Their final rally came in the eighth when they scored twice. Buster Posey blooped a pinch single to load the bases, and Alen Hanson grounded a two-run double down the first-base line. window._taboola = window._taboola || []; _taboola.push({ mode: ‘thumbnails-c’, container: ‘taboola-interstitial-gallery-thumbnails-5’, placement: ‘Interstitial Gallery Thumbnails 5’, target_type: ‘mix’ }); _taboola.push({flush: true}); window._taboola = window._taboola || []; _taboola.push({ mode: ‘thumbnails-c’, container: ‘taboola-interstitial-gallery-thumbnails-10’, placement: ‘Interstitial Gallery Thumbnails 10’, target_type: ‘mix’ }); _taboola.push({flush: true});… [Read full story]
