BY JOE PALLADINO Coaches like these do not come around often. When they leave all fans feel the loss. Jared Sheikh, head coach of Lewis Mills girls soccer, and Christina Caron, head coach of the Watertown girls, will not return next season. Sheikh made it official last fall, Caron this spring. Numbers don’t always tell the story, but they’re a good start. Sheikh, a former Nonnewaug soccer star, played tennis at Trinity College, coached boys soccer for six seasons with the Chiefs, then three at Brookfield where his teams won two Class L titles. He coached men’s soccer at Elms College, then it was back to high school for two seasons at Mills. His career scholastic record is 177-28-10. Sheikh led the Spartans to two BL championships, one trip to a state semi and a first ever Class M title last fall. The Spartans were 38-1 under Sheikh over two seasons. Goodness gracious. Christina Caron – you may remember her as Christina Nunes – won three NVL titles when she played at Holy Cross, where she scored 36 career goals.
