A day after Incarnate Word All-American quarterback Cameron Ward entered the transfer portal, Ward went to the airport to take a visit to Liberty. Before he could reach the gate, a security officer walked up to him. Ward couldn't figure out why at first and then the officer asked a question. "I see you just got an offer from Indiana, where are you going right now?" The moment still feels shocking to Ward. Yes, he's been one the best quarterbacks in the FCS the last two seasons. But that sort of we-know-your-face fame, especially away from campus, is a foregin experience for a quarterback who had almost no recruitment to speak of coming out of West Columbia (Texas) High School in the 2020 class.
