Q: Is that a strength coach? A: Yeah, that’s not main LSU strength coach Tommy Moffitt, but that is still a strength coach, because: no neck beard on sideline manhandling and yelling at people bigger than he is without fear shaved head HEADBUTTING PEOPLE WITH HELMETS WHILE HE HIMSELF IS NEITHER A PLAYER NOR SOMEONE WITH A HELMET seems like he lifts weights a lot works for the football team? <—— kind of an assumption here, and not at all proven! In summary: Strength coaches have a built-in helmet, and it’s called their skull. For almost five years, Butch Jones coached Tennessee. He built the program, in his words, “brick by brick,” but it was not on a firm enough foundation to withstand the gale force winds that basically every opponent would bring to the table every week. Until beating Auburn last week with Jeremy Pruitt at the helm, the Vols had lost to every other SEC team in their most recent meeting. Much of that was the doing of Jones while he was in Knoxville. One could say that Jones was holding the program back from its potential and in a way, putting Tennessee at a disadvantage every time is stepped out onto the field. Alabama absolutely dominated Tennessee in 2018, scoring 21 points on their first 10 plays, and putting up 58 by the time it was over. The 58 points the Tide scored are the most ever put up by a team in the Third Saturday In October rivalry series. But ask yourself, who was primarily to blame for the Tennessee team you saw on the field in the blowout? Jones recruited … [Read more...] about Butch Jones literally beat the Vols after years of figuratively doing it
NC State vs. Clemson was college football Saturday’s most important game, strictly based on rankings and records. Both were undefeated, with the Wolfpack No. 16, and the Tigers No. 3 in the AP poll. The game was viewed as a potential test for Clemson, which they would prove it to be not much more than another stroll against a conference opponent. The Tigers won the game easily, 41-7. It broke a trend of close games between the two opponents in the past few years. In 2015, No. 3 ranked Clemson was up just six on a 4-3 NC State team, 26-20. Midway through the third quarter, the Tigers were able to pull ahead by 13, and never looked back in a 56-41 victory. Their 2016 matchup was a classic that probably should have been a Wolfpack victory, but instead was another win for a Deshaun Watson-led team that would eventually win the national championship. Offensively, Clemson struggled in a game that included Watson’s first-ever pick six, and THREE missed field goals by NC State (one … [Read more...] about Clemson cruised past NC State after 3 nail-biters in as many years
After No. 6 Michigan overcame a bunch of bad omens to win at No. 24 Michigan State on Saturday, Jim Harbaugh had some icy words for Mark Dantonio. Harbaugh was referring to a pregame flareup between members of the two teams, which briefly got (slightly) physical. I’ll explain the whole thing in a second, but what Harbaugh said: “Clotheslined two of our guys,” Harbaugh said, talking about some Michigan State players. “Total bush league. Apparently Coach Dantonio was 5 yards behind it all, smiling. I think it’s bush league. That’s my impression of it.” Dantonio responded a short time later, when a reporter brought up Harbaugh’s comments. “That’s BS,” the coach said. What? “You heard me. That’s BS.” So, what’s that all about? Let’s go back to the few hours before the game, when Michigan State took a team walk at Spartan Stadium. A few Michigan players stayed on the field during that walk. … [Read more...] about Harbaugh calls Dantonio’s MSU ‘bush league’ after dustup
No. 5 Michigan defeated No. 24 Michigan State 21-7 on Saturday, the Wolverines winning for the second time in a row in East Lansing. It was pretty lopsided — Mark Dantonio’s team was outgained by UM in almost every category. As the game was ending, a squirrel somehow made its way onto the field and scored this gorgeous touchdown — it was literally untouched by defenders on his way into the end zone: This squirrel may have almost outgained MSU’s 94 yards from Saturday on this score! Another angle: Saturday’s Wolverine victory marks just the second Michigan win over Sparty in six years. It’s not the first time a squirrel has made a highlight reel during a college football game — in the middle of a Louisville game in 2017, this squirrel had this beautiful touchdown run, and it was even cheered on by announcers on the run: This Michigan State squirrel definitely showed good speed, agility, and elusiveness on his way to the house — with a … [Read more...] about TOUCHDOWN SQUIRREL might’ve outgained Sparty
