Kyle Larson can’t wait for Sunday’s Cup race. And it’s not because Homestead-Miami Speedway is among his best tracks. He just wants to be back in the car. “These weeks are long,” Larson told NBC Sports. While most drivers have become acclimated to no practice and qualifying at most NASCAR events, it is new to Larson, who missed the final 32 Cup races last season after losing his ride at Chip Ganassi Racing . With less time in the car, he has spent more time on race preparation. Still, a racer wants to race. “It’s been probably since 2009 or ’08 or even before that where I’ve only been in a race car one day a week,” Larson said. “If I’m only racing one day a week with NASCAR, you’re usually in the car practicing for a couple of days. They’ve been long weeks waiting for the weekends. Just ready to get down to Florida and hopefully have a good weekend at one of my best tracks and lead some laps and finally close one out.” In 14 races across the Cup, Xfinity and … [Read more...] about Friday 5: Studious Kyle Larson looks to ‘finally close one out’ at Miami

Kyle Larson wins Xfinity finale as Chris Buescher claims series title
Kyle Larson is known for riding the outside wall. Austin Dillon is not. The difference showed with five laps left in the Ford EcoBoost 300 as Dillon, who had led since Lap 180, hit the wall in Turn 4. Larson took advantage of the miscue by Dillon to win his third career Xfinity Series race. “I walked up to him in victory lane, and I said, ‘Teach me how to get around the top,’ ” Dillon said. “Obviously I need to change my line around, so maybe I can talk to him and figure something out. He’s very good at finding that edge up there.” Chris Buescher finished 11th to clinch the Xfinity Series championship for his first NASCAR title. It is Roush Fenway Racing’s first Xfinity title since 2012. India vs England: Watching Past Footage Helped me Look at Myself Differently: Ravichandran Ashwin After Record 400 Test Wicket
Seemed like Ravichandran Ashwin started from where he left off in Chepauk – a week back – as he went on to become the fastest Indian to 400 Test wickets. He picked up seven wickets in the match as India went on to steamroll England by 10 wickets at Motera. Ashwin – who thinks a lot about his game – said that he watched a lot of his past videos during the COVID-19 lockdown and that helped him evolve as a player as he got to know more about himself. “The planning for me goes to a different level. In Australia, I watched eight hours of straight footage ahead of the Adelaide Test. I didn’t know why I started doing it but I didn’t want to leave any stone unturned. I used to watch a lot of footage before too. But the understanding of the game has gone one notch higher. What happened during the lockdown was that I was watching a lot of cricket from the past, especially Sachin’s hundred at Chepauk [against Pakistan in 1999],” said Ashwin here while doing an interview for bcci.tv. “I … [Read more...] about India vs England: Watching Past Footage Helped me Look at Myself Differently: Ravichandran Ashwin After Record 400 Test Wicket
As ‘overthinking’ Price struggles, Canadiens should turn to Allen
The Canadiens are lucky that the bottom half of the North Division has been so bad this season. Ottawa, Vancouver, and Calgary are having their own issues, which has allowed Montreal’s faults to not sink them as they might have in any other year. With 37 games to go, the Habs are fourth in the division in points percentage (.579) and have games in-hand on the bottom three. They started the season 7-1-2, but the last three weeks have been disastrous and ultimately cost Claude Julien and Kirk Muller their jobs . Since their two-game sweep of the Canucks to begin February, they’ve been subpar offensively, averaging 2.22 goals per game. The power play has been dreadful, cashing in on 10.5% of their opportunities. The penalty kill has been dreary at 71.9%. Their team even strength save percentage is .917, per Natural Stat Trick , but most of that poor goaltending has been from Carey Price , who has made six of nine starts since the end of that 7-1-2 run. Price’s ESSV% over that … [Read more...] about As ‘overthinking’ Price struggles, Canadiens should turn to Allen
K.J. Wright: Russell Wilson isn’t going anywhere
Getty Images At this point, Russell Wilson hasn’t requested a trade. But we do know the four destinations for which Wilson would waive his no-trade clause. The news that Wilson would be willing to head to New Orleans, Chicago, Las Vegas, or Dallas has created some ripple effects across the NFL. But count Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright as someone who doesn’t believe Wilson will be moved. “I was kind of caught off guard myself. But looking back at it, Russ isn’t going anywhere ,” Wright said Friday on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football . “As long as I’m going to be in Seattle, Russ is going to be the quarterback. He means too much to us. He means way too much to this organization. He means way too much to the city. Usually people want to come to Seattle, not leave Seattle. And so I’m sure that he and the organization will get things figured out. He’s somebody that I admire and love playing with. So I expect Russ to be a Seahawk for a very long time.” But the thing … [Read more...] about K.J. Wright: Russell Wilson isn’t going anywhere
