DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Monster Energy NASCAR All-Star Race will feature two technical elements that could be incorporated into the Gen-7 car set for 2021. NASCAR and Charlotte Motor Speedway announced the technical specifications and format Wednesday for the May 18 exhibition race at the North Carolina track. The technical elements are a single-piece carbon fiber splitter/pan and a radiator duct that exits through the hood instead of the engine compartment. NASCAR said the splitter/pan will "provide a more stable aero platform and create more consistent performance in traffic." The radiator duct will "create improved aerodynamic parity and, at the same time, reduce engine temperatures."The race will again have four stages, with a five-lap increase in the final stage from last year. The stages will be 30, 20, 20 and 15 laps. Both green- and yellow-flag laps will count in Stages 1-3, with only green-flag laps counting in the final stage. … [Read more...] about NASCAR All-Star Race to possible Gen-7 car tech elements

Alexis Mansanarez Omnisport @almansanarez Updated at 11:05 p.m. ET Updated at 11:05 p.m. ET Martin Truex Jr. finally got that elusive win at Richmond Raceway. The 2018 Cup Series champion held off Joey Logano on the final lap at the Toyota Owners 400 to take home his first win of the season and apparently an incredibly tough one to get on this particular track. Coming into Saturday's race he had zero career wins at the track despite leading an average of 160 laps over the last three years. But now he finally has that victory and was elated after his win. "Really excited to win here at Richmond," Truex told Fox after the race. "I've always really loved this track…I've always loved coming here, and the short-track win, everybody kept asking me when it was going to happen and you know tonight we didn't have the best car but we've lost here with the best car a bunch of times, so we just … [Read more...] about NASCAR results at Richmond: Martin Truex Jr. grabs elusive short-track win
Thomas Schlarp @TSchlarp Updated at 6:22 p.m. ET Updated at 6:22 p.m. ET Can Kyle Busch be stopped? Not only is Busch the lone Cup Series driver to finish inside the top 10 every race this season, but he's also fresh off a comeback win last weekend at Bristol in which he wrecked on the race's first lap. Busch already has three wins this season and swept both races last year at Richmond Raceway, site of Saturday night's race. His win at Phoenix's ISM Raceway, on a similar track as Richmond, bodes well for him in the first Saturday race of the season.
