Brian Manzullo Detroit Free Press Published 12:52 PM EDT Jun 18, 2019 It started as a simple proposition on a Monday evening: "You can only keep one Faygo flavor." Who knew that such a sentence would trigger a firestorm of reactions and debate across Detroit and Michigan social media? (Okay, we all did.) Twitter user @WorldofIsaac posed the challenge to his followers (or, to be more specific, for "the Detroit people," since Faygo is based in Detroit) a little after 7 p.m. Monday. He used the popular Faygo flavors of Grape, Orange, Redpop and Rock & Rye as the four choices. The tweet was an instant hit, generating hundreds to thousands of reactions from across social media. The debate got so heated, "Rock & Rye" at one point was trending in the United States. Here's a sampling of some of the reactions (we won't lie: We tried our hardest to find people answering "orange" and "grape," and it wasn't easy). Gov. Saleha Mohsin and Jennifer Jacobs Bloomberg Published 12:50 PM EDT Jun 18, 2019 The White House explored the legality of demoting Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell in February, soon after President Donald Trump talked about firing him, according to people familiar with the matter. The White House general counsel’s office weighed the legal implications of stripping Powell of his chairmanship and leaving him as a Fed governor, the people said, in what would be an unprecedented move. A replacement would have to be nominated by Trump and confirmed by the Senate. Trump’s team conducted the legal analysis and came to a conclusion that has remained closely held within the White House, the people said, requesting anonymity to discuss internal deliberations. It isn’t clear whether Trump directed the legal review, and the people didn’t describe the outcome. A White House official who declined to be identified said he wouldn’t comment on what he called … [Read more...] about White House explored legality of demoting Fed Chairman Powell
By Rick Hurd | [email protected] | Bay Area News Group PUBLISHED: June 18, 2019 at 9:10 am | UPDATED: June 18, 2019 at 9:14 am TREASURE ISLAND — A car overturned on the Treasure Island on-ramp to the Bay Bridge on Tuesday morning, causing a long traffic jam back into San Francisco, the California Highway Patrol said. The driver of the vehicle went to a hospital but was walking around immediately following the crash, the CHP said. The wreck happened around 7:12 a.m. The car ended up on its roof, blocked the on-ramp and also forced the closure of the far two left lanes on eastbound Interstate 80, the CHP said. The crash also damaged the concrete wall, and that was complicating the clean-up. There was no estimate for when the two lanes or the on-ramp would be open. Check back for updates.
