2021 top high school football recruits

Getty Images Deion Sanders has already made headlines for his high-level recruiting as football coach at Jackson State University. Now, the former superstar is making waves with the coaches he's bringing around to help shape his program. Sanders recently called upon former Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer to serve as an analyst for the JSU program, though no announcement of an official hire has been made by the school. Still, Zimmer recently met with the team and is excited to help Coach Prime. "He's asked me about it a few times. The pay's not good," Zimmer told Thee Pregame Show . "But I do love Deion and I'd do anything for him." Zimmer and Sanders are long-time friends who worked together in Dallas during the 1990s when Sanders was a star player for the Cowboys and Zimmer a defensive assistant for the franchise. A teenage edge rusher from an Atlanta suburb, Anderson was a Porsche without brake lights. It didn't matter if the kid couldn't decipher a bull rush from a speed rush. He was a wind-up toy who never wound down. Forget about technique ... that could come later. In that beginning, it was first about making it through a Dutchtown High School practice. Anderson's defensive coordinator, Will Rogers, remembers the prize defender lining up against the offense in drills. In the second quarter of the Washington Commanders’ preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers, ex-Alabama running back Brian Robinson Jr. powered through defenders and scored his first touchdown in the NFL. Robinson picked up 26 yards on six carries along with the score before his day came to an end. His longest rush was 11 yards and he averaged 4.3 yards per attempt while catching two passes for 15 yards. Robinson was the No. 98 pick during the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft after a highly impactful season with the Crimson Tide. Throughout 2021 he took 271 carries for 1,343 yards and 14 scores. His rushing touchdown total led the SEC and he ranked third in rushing yards as well. Robinson also picked up 296 receiving yards and two touchdowns after catching 35 passes. The San Francisco 49ers released former Ole Miss star and No. 1 recruit Robert Nkemdiche . Prior to his stint in San Francisco, Nkemdiche played with the division rival Seattle Seahawks. He spent all of 2021 there and totaled 12 tackles and a pass deflection. In June 2019, Nkemdiche was arrested on an outstanding traffic warrant after he was pulled over for speeding on his way to an Arizona Cardinals practice. Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said the defensive lineman reported to training camp out of shape that summer, and he was waived with a failed physical designation. He later served a brief suspension in November 2019 while playing with the Miami Dolphins, and a team did not sign him during the 2020 season.
