NY2LA Swish ‘N Dish: New names emerge on the radar

· April 4, 2021 ·

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wisc. – The springtime is the time for under the radar prospects and young players to make their way onto the national scene and see their stock rise with college coaches. At the NY2LA Swish ‘N Dish, junior forward Leon Bond was one of several who showed up to help his stock blow up. BOND ON HIS WAY TO A BREAKOUT SPRING Up until now, Wauwatosa (Wisc.) East small forward Leon Bond has been flying somewhat under the radar. The 6-foot-5 junior entered the weekend holding offers from programs like Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Western Illinois and St. Thomas. Now, he’s got his first high major offer – courtesy of Virginia Tech – and more should be on the way soon. Playing with the JH1 program, Bond was the biggest stock riser of the weekend. To go with his size, Bond has long arms, bouncy athleticism and he’s got a motor that never stops running. Bond plays hard defensively, crashes the glass and is always trying to find his way to the rim in … [Read more...] about NY2LA Swish ‘N Dish: New names emerge on the radar

· March 19, 2021 ·

Jack Hughes has never had any difficulty expressing his opinions when he needs to. It is, therefore, a trait which should serve the 29-year-old well now he has been appointed captain of Warrington Wolves for the 2021 Super League season. After serving in the role jointly with fellow forward Chris Hill last year, Hughes is relishing the prospect of stamping his own mark on the captaincy and making his voice heard in the changing room. "I don't hold back in trying to be honest and saying what I feel is right at the right time," Hughes said. "That's not really something I struggle with. "It's a role I'm always looking to grow and learn in, and the … [Read more...] about Super League 2021: New captain Jack Hughes steps up to lead Warrington Wolves

Monday dish: Closing thoughts from the Swish ‘N Dish

· April 5, 2021 ·

After a few weeks off, the Monday Dish is back. Before we get sucked back into transfer mania, I wanted to give some closing thoughts on my weekend trip to Pleasant Prairie, Wisc. for the NY2LA Sports Swish ‘N Dish. What position best suits Nick Smith on the next level? Which in-state prospect would I recommend new Indiana coach Mike Woodson do some homework on? I take a look at that and more to kick off Monday. NICK SMITH IS AT HIS BEST AS A PLAYMAKER During my time at the Swish ‘N Dish, I didn’t see many, if any, players better than Nick Smith . That shouldn’t come as a huge surprise considering the product of Arkansas who plays his grassroots ball for Brad Beal Elite is currently ranked No. 25 overall in the class of 2022 by 247Sports. The question that kept crossing my mind while watching him play, though, was do we need to switch his position and how does he best fit on the college level? Currently, we have Smith listed as a shooting guard and he’s certainly … [Read more...] about Monday dish: Closing thoughts from the Swish ‘N Dish
