The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced the India cricket squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against West Indies, starting July 22 at Port of Spain in Trinidad. While Shikhar Dhawan has been named captain, several big names including star batter Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been rested. Ravindra Jadeja , meanwhile, has been named as vice-captain for the series. Following the squad announcement, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan seemed unhappy with the management's decision to rest players. He posted a cryptic tweet, which read: "No one comes back to form while resting". Notably, Kohli has not scored a century in nearly three years in any format. NBA offseason winners and losers: Knicks’ star search incomplete; Spurs eyeing top pick; Thunder keep building
Getty Images As the 2022 NBA free agency period dies down, all eyes turn to the deals yet to be completed. It's presumed that Kevin Durant is headed out of Brooklyn, which could also trade Kyrie Irving, for whom the Lakers are angling. The Suns haven't resolved their DeAndre Ayton dilemma (will someone emerge as a sign-and-trade partner?). Philly is working with James Harden on an extension, but nothing has been announced. For now, taking into account the draft, trades and free-agent signings, here is my list of 2022 offseason winners and losers. This post will continue to update. Here's what we have so far. Biggest 2022 NFL training camp battles involving rookies: Chris Carson, Zach Ertz among vets to be pushed
imagn's Patrick Breen NFL teams often target positions in the draft to replace veterans as a cost-cutting measure. Those plans can take a few years to materialize and that leads to a healthy competition in training camp. Eagles drafted two young players (center Cam Jurgens and defensive tackle Jordan Davis ) who are talented enough to earn longer looks, but the two veterans ahead of them -- Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox , respectively -- have so many skins on the wall that it is difficult to envision Philadelphia not starting them. It is more likely that Cox starts and splits snaps with Davis. Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III vs. Seattle's running backs Rashaad Penny has played in 10 games or less each of the past three seasons. When available, he did not look like the player who enticed the team to use a first-round selection on his talents. Chris Carson has missed 17 games over the past two seasons. Both are entering the final year on their contract. The … [Read more...] about Biggest 2022 NFL training camp battles involving rookies: Chris Carson, Zach Ertz among vets to be pushed
Alabama in top six for Top100 CB Malik Muhammad
“Coach (Nick) Saban and Coach T-Rob (Travaris Robinson) told me to come back up for the spring game,” Muhammad said of what prompted him to take another visit so soon. Muhammad was also on campus in January for Junior Day. This time around he got a little taste of the game-day atmosphere. “It was good,” he said. “I got to watch the spring game, watch the team, see what they were working with on both sides of the ball. They looked pretty good.” Spending an extended amount of time on campus lately, Muhammad says a few things stand out. “Facilities are nice and the way they take care of you,” he said. “Then the coaches, too.” Robinson has been a good addition for the Tide in terms of Muhammad’s interest in the program. “He was recruiting me at Miami also, so we’re straight,” he said. “He’s a good coach. He knows how to recruit well. And he knows his stuff at the defensive back position.” Nick Saban had high praise for Muhammad as well. “He was mainly telling me I had an … [Read more...] about Alabama in top six for Top100 CB Malik Muhammad
Conference realignment: Notre Dame lone program who can ‘grow the financial pie,’ per report
The Power Five has suddenly become a Power Two with the Big Ten and SEC loading up. The SEC added Oklahoma and Texas in 2021; the Big Ten countered by landing USC and UCLA in a seismic move. So who’s next to join the Power Two? That could be a little tricky, reports ESPN’s Pete Thamel. "The issue that both the Big Ten and SEC have in terms of adding additional schools is that there simply aren't any -- outside of Notre Dame -- that offer certainty of value to grow the financial pie enough to justify their slice,” Thamel wrote. “There are arguments for ACC schools like Clemson, North Carolina, Florida State and Miami. But there are looming legal reasons why UCLA, USC, Texas and Oklahoma are all waiting for their current TV contracts -- and congruent grants of rights -- to expire." USC and UCLA saying farewell to the Pac-12 largely centers around the Big Ten’s money-maker TV deal that is in the process of being negotiated. The Big Ten sought upwards of $1 billion in its next … [Read more...] about Conference realignment: Notre Dame lone program who can ‘grow the financial pie,’ per report
USC, UCLA reportedly planning to leave for Big Ten ‘completely blindsided’ Pac-12, per report
News that USC and UCLA are planning to leave the Pac-12 for the Big Ten , as first reported Thursday by Jon Wilner , rocked the college sports landscape. While the prospect of conference realignment is nothing new, Texas and Oklahoma's decision to set up a move to the SEC last year created a league that made some sense geographically. Now the Big Ten could stretch from coast to coast, and the Pac-12 will have to find a way to salvage the situation. Speaking on ESPN's SportsCenter , Heather Dinich said the Pac-12 was "completely blindsided" by the decision by two of its core member schools. "There's still a formal notification process, meaning USC and UCLA have to let the Pac-12 officially know that they would intend to leave, and they also have to officially apply to the Big Ten Conference," Dinich said. "A source says that that process is actually underway. The other thing about this is that all indications are the Pac-12 was completely blindsided by this. I was speaking to … [Read more...] about USC, UCLA reportedly planning to leave for Big Ten ‘completely blindsided’ Pac-12, per report
2022 Preseason All-Big 12 football team: Bijan Robinson, Deuce Vaughn lead the way as unanimous selections
USA Today Sports Images The Big 12 released its annual Preseason All-Big 12 squad on Wednesday ahead of the conference's media days scheduled for next week. Unlike recent seasons, however, there's real balance among the preseason selections. Four teams earned between four and six selections with Kansas State surprisingly leading the pack with six. Baylor ranked close behind with five selections, including three players in the trenches. West Virginia and Iowa State were close with four each, though they featured a kicker and fullback respectively. In most years, Oklahoma has ranked among the leaders in selections. However, after the departure of Lincoln Riley, the Sooners are looking for new contributors. Punter Michael Turk was the only Oklahoma starter voted to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team, tied with Kansas . For comparison, OU had nine selections in 2021. Texas also only had two selections: Running back Bijan Robinson and receiver Xavier Worthy . Robinson and … [Read more...] about 2022 Preseason All-Big 12 football team: Bijan Robinson, Deuce Vaughn lead the way as unanimous selections

Big Ten coach rankings 2022: Jim Harbaugh vaults toward the top as Ryan Day holds firm at No. 1 in conference
CBS Sports Graphic The Big Ten is all about depth. After all, it's called the Big Ten but currently boasts 14 schools and will soon have 16 (and maybe more!) before you know it. That depth is certainly reflected in how we at CBS Sports ranked its coaches. In our overall Power Five coach rankings, published earlier this offseason, nobody from the Big Ten cracked the top five spots. However, while the conference lacks a top-five presence, it has five coaches ranked in the top 15, eight in the top 25 and 12 of the top 40. It's a testament to the conference's tradition as well as overall spending power. But while that's how Big Ten coaches compare to their Power Five counterparts, how do they compare to one another? That's what we're here to go over today. As you'd expect, coming off the COVID-shortened campaign of 2020 and a 2021 season that saw surprising results, there's been some significant shakeups in our Big Ten coach rankings this year. While the No. 1 spot remains the … [Read more...] about Big Ten coach rankings 2022: Jim Harbaugh vaults toward the top as Ryan Day holds firm at No. 1 in conference
