Peterson played for the Saints and Cardinals last season after spending the first nine years in Minnesota by Ryan Wilson @ryanwilson_07 46s ago • 2 min read The Washington Redskins are set to sign Adrian Peterson, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. The team is hoping the 33-year-old will running back will help mitigate the loss of rookie second-rounder Derrius Guice, who was lost for the season to an ACL injury earlier this month.A year ago, after the Vikings had released Peterson instead of paying him $18 million, he signed with the Saints, where his teammates couldn't talk enough about how amazing he looked during offseason practices. When the 2017 regular season started, Peterson carried the ball six times for 18 yards in the opener against his former team, the Vikings, and watched Minnesota second-rounder Dalvin Cook break the franchise record for rushing yards by a rookie. Peterson lasted four games … [Read more...] about Redskins to reportedly sign Adrian Peterson to help replace Derrius Guice

The 33-year-old Peterson is reportedly visiting Washington on Monday by Ryan Wilson @ryanwilson_07 1m ago • 2 min read The Redskins thought they solved their running back situation this offseason when they drafted Derrius Guice in the second round. But Guice tore his ACL in Week 1 of the preseason, and the backfield suddenly looked a lot like the one that ranked 28th in rushing a season ago. And while Chris Thompson, Rob Kelley and Samaje Perine all have the potential to improve on their 2017 effort, the Redskins will also host several veteran free agents that includes future Hall of Famer Adrian Peterson. A year ago, after the Vikings had released Peterson instead of paying him $18 million, he signed with the Saints, where his teammates couldn't talk enough about how amazing he looked during offseason practices. "I'm amazed, honestly. Seeing him just take off his first few steps are as explosive as I've ever seen by a human being," left … [Read more...] about Despite rough 2017 season, Adrian Peterson ‘hasn’t slowed down,’ says Redskins’ Trent Williams
Adrian Peterson and Jamaal Charles made plans to visit the Redskins this weekend, following Orleans Darkwa in doing so. This effort to add a piece to a reeling backfield won’t be to bring in a starter but to add depth to a position group that needs it. Jay Gruden said (video link) his team is “covering our bases” in arranging visits with these free agent backs. Being merely a four-year veteran with a light carry history, Darkwa certainly has the most left in the tank. He led the Giants in rushing last season. Peterson, though, has recent experience fitting in quickly with a new team. Although he didn’t do well on a per-carry basis behind a struggling Cardinals offensive line, the future Hall of Fame back posted two 130-plus-yard performances last season — the first of which coming in his initial Cards game. Charles fell out of the Broncos’ rotation late in the season, but the two-time All-Pro made it through last year healthy and performed fairly … [Read more...] about Adrian Peterson planning a trip visit to Redskins
Washington is looking at some big-name veterans to potentially step up and take the mantle by Will Brinson @WillBrinson 46s ago • 2 min read One thing is clear from the first two weeks of the preseason: if the Washington Redskins want to contend in the NFC East, and the NFC as a whole, they have to improve their rushing attack. The Redskins lost rookie running back Derrius Guice for the season with a torn ACL on just his third carry of the preseason, opening up the carry competition to Samaje Perine and Rob Kelley. Perine already got hurt and neither he nor Kelley have looked impressive. Enter Adrian Peterson (preferably riding in on a horse, holding a lighting bolt while "Thunderstruck" loudly plays) and Jamaal Charles (preferably flying on a hovercraft with Steely Dan jams in the background), two big-name veteran backs with interesting appeal. According to NFL Media's Mike Garafolo, Peterson is slated to visit the Redskins on Monday. … [Read more...] about Adrian Peterson, Jamaal Charles in play to fill Redskins RB void post-Derrius Guice injury
