North Walsham and District Community Archive collects a photographic history of the town to keep it safe for future generations and available to the public. Its calendar has quickly became a firm favourite with those who grew up in the town and remember ‘the good old days’, newcomers to the town interested in its history and those who now live further away - as copies are sent all over the world, via the website. French archival display tells VN history
Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — An exhibition of Vietnamese archival materials kicks off today in France, showing Vietnamese culture and history reflected through documents and images. Entitled “Vietnamese Features through Archives”, the exhibition is of the cultural activities to promote Vietnamese culture abroad organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. A highlight of the exhibition is mộc bản (wood blocks) and châu bản (official administrative papers), which Nguyễn Dynasty kings (1802-1945) used for administrative works and recording history. The exhibition shows the organisation of the historic preservation office, how the Kings recruited staff to the office and the process of collecting documents to compile and print records. Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — The co-operation between Việt Nam and Japan has been highlighted on a new website launched in Hà Nội on Thursday. The State Records and Archives Department of Việt Nam (SRADV) and the National Archives of Japan (NAJ) have teamed up to design the comprehensive and detailed online exhibition of archival records. Supervised by Dr Masaya Shiraishi, Emeritus Professor of the Waseda University, the exhibition is divided into four sections Early Associations; Exchange in the Early Modern Era; Exchange in the Modern and Contemporary Periods; Việt Nam and Japan: Old Partners, New Partnership; and Chronological Table. It serves to demonstrate the historical development in the relationship between the two countries, in the fields of economy, culture, education and art. Archive featuring Hugh ‘Pat’ Floyd memorabilia up for sale at auction
PUBLISHED: 09:00 11 November 2017 The Golden Gloves, cup and belt from Hugh 'Pat' Floyd�s 1935 New York victory, part of the archive for sale at Sworders Archant Boxing fans have the chance to get their hands on some famous memorabilia as items from the career of Hugh ‘Pat’ Floyd go under the hammer in December. The Dalston-born heavyweight enjoyed a stellar career stretching from the 1920s to the 1940s, winning the ABA title on four occasions.Floyd represented England in the European Championships in Budapest in 1934, was the Empire Games champion and captain, and won the Golden Gloves tournament in New York in the summer of 1935.The auction sees an autograph book containing signatures collected by Floyd in his career, the 1935 International Golden Gloves belt, his British Empire Games 1934 patch and a host of trophies go under the hammer, among other items.The archive is estimated at £3,000-5,000 in Sworders’ Winter Country House sale, which takes … [Read more...] about Archive featuring Hugh ‘Pat’ Floyd memorabilia up for sale at auction
