Franchise T20 leagues are an ever-growing phenomenon in world cricket currently. After the concept became a hit in countries like India, Australia and England, even South Africa and UAE have gone ahead with new franchise T20 leagues of their own. IPL franchise owners control majority of the teams in the two leagues. The abundance of franchise cricket has meant that players from around the world are getting a chance to play in multiple lucrative T20 leagues. However, active Indian players have so far not been allowed to play in any of the foreign leagues. Former Indian cricket team captain Sunil Gavaskar , in his column for Sportstar, touched upon the issue of the unavailability of Indian players in foreign leagues. "Some overseas former players have said that the Indian players should be allowed to play the Big Bash or the Hundred. Basically, they want their leagues to have more sponsorship etc. They are concerned about their cricket, which is totally understandable," … [Read more...] about “Want Their Leagues To Have More Sponsorship”: Sunil Gavaskar On Demand to Allow Indian Players In Foreign Leagues | Cricket News

Can’t Beg People To Play For West Indies, Says Dejected Head Coach Phil Simmons | Cricket News
"I don't think that I should be begging people to play for the West Indies," said the team's dejected chief coach Phil Simmons . The former opener expressed his disappointment even as the board struggles to zero in on their best squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, with most cricketers either playing franchise league elsewhere or out injured. "It hurts. There's no other way to put it. But what can you do? I don't think that I should be begging people to play for their countries. I think if you want to represent West Indies, you will make yourself available," Simmons was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. "Life has changed, in that people have the opportunities to go different places and if they choose that over West Indies, that's just how it is," he added. The list of absentees is long. Andre Russell hasn't made himself available for selection as the star all-rounder -- along with Sunil Narine -- is currently playing the Hundred. Evin Lewis and Oshane Thomas have not … [Read more...] about Can’t Beg People To Play For West Indies, Says Dejected Head Coach Phil Simmons | Cricket News
Wouldn’t be surprised if we see Hardik Pandya leading India: Scott Styris
Pandya made a statement, as he led new IPL franchise Gujarat Titans to the coveted crown in their maiden season. Not only did Pandya show his leadership skills, the Indian cricketer contributed with both bat and ball. Pandya carried his form into international cricket, and having led the side with conviction in the absence of Rohit Sharma, many believe Pandya can be considered as an Indian captain in the future. One of those voices is that of former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris. Speaking exclusively on Sports18’s daily sports news show 'Sports Over The Top’, former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris spoke about Hardik Pandya taking up the leadership role in future. “I think it's an intriguing discussion because again, six months ago, I don't think it's something we all thought would even be talked about, but Hardik Pandya has made every poster winner, as Saba says. And you know, you see it a lot in football, where players of character and personality are often given … [Read more...] about Wouldn’t be surprised if we see Hardik Pandya leading India: Scott Styris
Rohit Sharma’s 10-Year Old Tweet On Suryakumar Yadav Goes Viral After India Batter Smashes Ton vs England In 3rd T20I
India vs England, 3rd T20I, Nottingham: Suryakumar Yadav was in his element in the third and final T20I against England at Trent Bridge as the India batter smashed a brilliant hundred to keep India in the hunt of chasing down a mammoth target of 215 set by the hosts. Although India felt short by 17 runs, Suryakumar showed why he merits a regular spot in the middle-order of the India team and has pretty much cemented his place for the T20 World Cup to be played later in the year in Australia. Surya’s 117 came off 55 balls as the rest of the batters failed to get going on a batting friendly wicket at Trent Bridge. India captain Rohit Sharma was mighty pleased with the 31-year-old’s knock and said that he has grwon from strength to strength. “We are proud of the fight. Surya was magnificent to watch. I have been watching him for a while now. Loves this format, has wide range of shots. He has grown from strength to strength since we got him into the squad,” said the India captain at … [Read more...] about Rohit Sharma’s 10-Year Old Tweet On Suryakumar Yadav Goes Viral After India Batter Smashes Ton vs England In 3rd T20I

West Indies vs New Zealand: Mitchell Santner Stars As New Zealand Beat West Indies In T20I Series Opener | Cricket News
West Indies' season of white ball woe continued on Wednesday when New Zealand completed a 13-run win in the first T20 International of a three-match series at Sabina Park in Jamaica. Fresh from a successful European sojourn, the Black Caps posted a formidable 185 for five batting first in a rain-interrupted innings before their premier bowlers combined to limit the Caribbean side to 172 for seven in reply. Since getting the better of Bangladesh 2-0 in a T20I duel, the West Indies have been swept 3-0 by the Bangladeshis and India in successive One-Day International series before going down 4-1 to the Indians in another T20I campaign immediately preceding this assignment. New Zealand almost paid for a period of complacency towards the end of the match as an explosive unbroken 58-run eighth-wicket partnership between Romario Shepherd (31 not out) and Odean Smith (27 not out) gave the hosts a glimmer of hope after they had crashed to 114 for seven in the 16th over. But they … [Read more...] about West Indies vs New Zealand: Mitchell Santner Stars As New Zealand Beat West Indies In T20I Series Opener | Cricket News
