Contentious ‘Umpire’s Call’ to stay, claims ICC; 3 changes to DRS and 3rd Umpire protocols introduced

· April 1, 2021 ·

It was ruled that the contentious 'Umpire's Call' will continue to be a part of the Decision Review System. Called "confusing" by India captain Virat Kohli, the Umpire's Call has been a subject of controversy for a while now. As per the existing rule, 50 per cent of the ball should be hitting at least one of the three stumps for the batsman to be adjudged LBW on review in case an umpire's 'not out' call has been challenged. On this development, Kumble said: "The Cricket Committee had an excellent discussion around Umpire's Call and analysed its use extensively. The principle underpinning DRS was to correct clear errors in the game whilst ensuring the role of the umpire as the decision-maker on the field of play was preserved, bearing in mind the element of prediction involved with the technology. Umpire's Call allows that to happen, which is why it is important it remains." Umpire's call to be scrapped? - MCC willing to tweak 'confusing call' in the DRS In addition, three … [Read more...] about Contentious ‘Umpire’s Call’ to stay, claims ICC; 3 changes to DRS and 3rd Umpire protocols introduced

· November 24, 2015 ·

The aftermath of Thabo Sefolosha ‘s April arrest is playing out on multiple fronts. He was found not guilty in criminal court. He’s also suing in civil court . And New York City’s Civilian Complaint Review Board was reviewing the police’s conduct. Those results are in. James C. McKinley Jr. of The New York Times : New York City’s Civilian Complaint Review Board ruled on Monday that the police had no right to arrest Atlanta Hawks basketball player Thabo Sefolosha outside a nightclub in April, but that officers had not used excessive force when they knocked him to the ground and broke his leg. A three-member panel found that one officer, JohnPaul Giacona, had been discourteous and had abused his authority when he used profanity and threatened to fight Mr. Sefolosha, after asking him several times to move farther away from the nightclub. Virat Kohli has been pressuring, disrespecting and remonstrating with umpires, claims David Lloyd

· March 25, 2021 ·

Following England's defeat in the T20I series against India, Lloyd went on claiming that Kohli's suggestion that England pressurised umpire Nitin Menon to give soft-signal in their favour in the 5th T20I is doubtful. Lloyd added that he is sure that the India captain has been 'remonstrating with umpires throughout this tour'. Lloyd wrote in his column for Daily Mail , "Kohli also suggested England were pressuring umpires to give the 'soft signal' as out when Dawid Malan took a low catch in the fourth T20. Firstly, the soft signal is there to leave as much authority as possible with the on-field umpires. India vs England 2nd ODI: Dream11 Prediction, Fantasy Tips, Best Playing 11 Updates "And I don't know if England put pressure on Nitin Menon in Ahmedabad, but I do know one thing - Kohli has been pressuring, disrespecting and remonstrating with umpires throughout this tour." · November 12, 2020 ·

With two PGA Championship victories and one win apiece in the US Open and Open Championship, Rory McIlroy needs only a Masters triumph to complete a career Grand Slam at the majors. However, claiming that elusive victory has proved easier said than done since his final-round collapse in 2011 cost him a golden chance of winning the Green Jacket. McIlroy's successes in the other majors, the last of which came seven years ago, have seemingly increased the pressure on him every year he arrives at Augusta National, so how has he fared at the famous venue since 2011… 2012 - T40 After his near-miss the previous year, McIlroy - along with Tiger Woods - was the pre-tournament favourite in 2012 and was well-placed at halfway in a share of third place, one shot off the lead on four under after rounds of 71 and 69. But the wheels came off once again in the third round as he started with a double-bogey and added another at the seventh, playing the front nine in six-over 42 on his … [Read more...] about Rory McIlroy’s last nine years at The Masters since his 2011 meltdown
