SRI LANKA WOMEN TOUR OF PAKISTAN by Cricbuzz Staff • Published on Share Tweet Ayesha Naseem top-scored for Pakistan with 45 © Getty An allround bowling effort from Pakistan downed Sri Lanka in a second-successive low-scorer in Karachi. The home side chased down Sri Lanka's lowly 102 for 6 with 7 wickets and 17 balls to spare. Opting to bat again, Sri Lanka made a nightmarish start when captain Chamari Athapaththu fell in the third over. Number three batter Oshadi Ranasinghe followed suit for a 12-ball eight in the eighth over. Sri Lanka navigated out of the early dents with a semblance of partnership between Hasini Perera and Nilakshi de Silva. But that too lasted only as far as the 14th over when Tuba Hasasn saw the back of opener Perera. Harshitha Madavi attempted to stitch another stand with Nilakshi but that was also only worth 28 runs before she was dismissed. With that Sri Lanka went down to 90 for 4 in the 19th … [Read more...] about Pakistan women double their lead in another low-scorer

Marcell Jacobs’ Olympic gold to be followed by first race in front of father
ROME (AP) — Marcell Jacobs already won another gold medal at the world indoors. He’ll likely get a huge reception at Rome’s upcoming Diamond League meet. Then a reunion with his once-estranged father at the world championships. Followed by more potential medals at the European championships. And, to top it all off, a wedding in September. If last year — when Jacobs sprinted from virtual unknown to Olympic 100m champion and then added another surprising gold at the Tokyo Games with Italy’s 4x100m relay team — proved remarkable for the Texas-born runner, 2022 could be even more memorable. For all those who thought Jacobs was just a one-hit wonder — and there were plenty of naysayers — the Italian has other plans. “Winning these next two big events would mean winning everything there is to win in athletics,” Jacobs told The Associated Press in an interview at his Rome training base this week. “But I’ve got a huge target on my back wherever I go now — everyone wants to beat me. … [Read more...] about Marcell Jacobs’ Olympic gold to be followed by first race in front of father

Brent Venables heralds Oklahoma QB Dillon Gabriel as ‘ultra-consistent’
First-year Oklahoma Sooners head coach Brent Venables found his quarterback through the NCAA transfer portal, landing UCF transfer Dillon Gabriel after he initially pledged to UCLA. And for any questions about Gabriel's ability transition to the Power 5 level, Venables says the display of football Gabriel provided during his first spring in Norman removed any worries his staff had on that front. "Dillon, I thought he had a terrific spring," Venables said Wednesday during a radio interview with KREF Sports. "Ultra-consistent. Really accurate. He makes plays, can improvise and make all the throws. But I just love his leadership and consistency. There's a calmness and consistency that helps you focus on other things. He's the last guy you have to worry about. I certainly don't want to take that for granted. But that for us is a real comfort level where he physically, mentally, spiritually and leadership. "He gets it. He's mature beyond his years. His decision-making is at a … [Read more...] about Brent Venables heralds Oklahoma QB Dillon Gabriel as ‘ultra-consistent’
IPL 2022: Rajat Patidar postponed his marriage to play for RCB
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) inched a step closer to their maiden IPL trophy as they defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Eliminator of IPL 2022 to book a clash with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Qualifier 2. RCB’s win was backed by some fine bowling at death by Josh Hazlewood and Harshal Patel but Rajat Patidar was the biggest architect of the win for RCB. The batter tore apart the LSG bowling and fetched himself an elite century. Patidar’s (112 off 54) helped RCB post a daunting 207-4 in their quota of overs, which proved too much for the KL Rahul-led side. Patidar has blown hot and cold in the tournament, but this century will do his confidence a world of good. Even former skipper Virat Kohli was in awe of the youngster and termed him as the one for the future. Meanwhile, many will be surprised to know that Patidar was initially not supposed to be playing for RCB this year. After being released by RCB last year, the batter went unsold in the mega auction. He was supposed … [Read more...] about IPL 2022: Rajat Patidar postponed his marriage to play for RCB
