AP After Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery had a pass go through his hands for what turned out to be a game-sealing interception for the Saints, quarterback Nick Foles could be seen talking to the distraught receiver on the sideline. After the game, Foles said he told Jeffery “I love you, let’s keep going” and went on to discuss the importance of being able to console a teammate in that situation. Foles said he will “always play this game to develop relationships because that’s what makes a strong team” and expanded on the importance of those relationships on Monday while talking about the role quarterbacks play as a leader. “Teams are going to build around the quarterback but as a quarterback, talking to the defense, getting to know your offense, getting to know special teams, talking to guys during the game, not making it about you, that’s something that’s so important, that’s something that resonates,” Foles … [Read more...] about Nick Foles: Relationships are what make a strong team

Get ready for football with everything you need to know about the Week 17 slate by R.J. White @rjwhite1 43s ago • 25 min read It's Week 17, which means NFL coaches and bettors alike have to grapple with what to do when a playoff team has more to risk by playing their starters than they do in losing the final game of the regular season. Three teams find themselves in that situation this week: the Saints, Cowboys and Seahawks. The Saints have locked up the No. 1 seed in the NFC, and losing this Sunday would do nothing to hurt their playoff outlook. The Cowboys have won the NFC East but are two games back of the Bears, meaning they're going to be the No. 4 seed and play the best wild-card team. That will likely be the Seahawks, who at 9-6 are a half-game up on the Vikings for the No. 5 seed but can't fall any lower than sixth, meaning at best they're playing in Week 17 for the opportunity to face the Cowboys instead of the Bears. The Seahawks don't … [Read more...] about NFL Week 17 picks: How to bet a Cowboys team resting players, teaser of the week and more tips
David Goricki The Detroit News Published 5:43 PM EST Dec 9, 2018 Monique Brown is building a dynasty at Detroit Edison, winning consecutive Class C state championships while entering this season as the overwhelming favorite to earn the Division 2 title at Calvin College in March. Brown’s team is loaded with experience and talent and is The Detroit News’ preseason No. 1 team. “I have four returning starters,” said Brown. “We moved to Division 2 voluntarily; this sets a different challenge for us. We are definitely expecting to contend for the title so I tried to … [Read more...] about Detroit News top girls basketball teams: Edison builds a dynasty
An effective young tailback can be the cost-effective foundation for playoff team. Ezekiel Elliott’s dynamite rookie campaign made the Dallas Cowboys the NFC’s top team in 2016. Arian Foster’s league-leading 1,616 yards in 2010 set the tone for the Texans to earn the franchise’s first-ever postseason bids in 2011 and 2012. These fresh-out-of-college backs can energize an offense with electric playmaking skills and create the salary cap savings that allow teams to surround them with veteran talent. The league’s seemingly endless supply of emerging runners has helped usher in an era of platoons and made running back the league’s least-expensive non-special teams position. Several of 2018’s prospective playoff teams, including the Patriots (Sony Michel), Steelers (James Conner), Seahawks (Chris Carson), and Saints (Alvin Kamara) are built around talented first- or second-year tailbacks. So if you were building a team, which young tailback would … [Read more...] about Which young RB would you build your NFL team around?
