Jacob Camenker @JacobCamenker Updated at 12:32 p.m. ET Updated at 12:32 p.m. ET The 49ers may be in trouble at the quarterback position. C.J. Beathard is dealing with a wrist injury, and the team doesn't have a lot of depth behind him. On a short week, the 49ers are staring down the prospect of starting Nick Mullens or Tom Savage at the position if Beathard can't play. Needless to say, this is not a decision they expected to be facing after signing Jimmy Garoppolo to a massive contract this offseason. Beathard's official active/inactive status won't be decided until shortly before the game, but it will have an impact on fantasy football rankings and could create some interesting start 'em, sit 'em decisions -- not because anyone is starting Beathard; rather because of how his absence could affect San Francisco's pass-catchers and the Oakland D/ST. We'll provide updates on Beathard throughout … [Read more...] about Fantasy Injury Updates: Is C.J. Beathard playing Thursday night?

AP The 49ers list quarterback C.J. Beathard as questionable. That’s better than doubtful, and Beathard did have a limited practice Wednesday. But there remains a question about whether Beathard or Nick Mullens will start Thursday night’s game. Mullens has served as the No. 2 quarterback behind Beathard since Jimmy Garoppolo‘s torn ACL. The 49ers ruled out safety Antone Exum (concussion), linebacker Reuben Foster (hamstring) and safety Jaquiski Tartt (shoulder). Running back Matt Breida (ankle), receiver Pierre Garcon (shoulder, knee), running back Raheem Mostert (ankle), center Weston Richburg (knee) and cornerback Richard Sherman (calf, heel) joined Beathard as questionable. … [Read more...] about 49ers list C.J. E.Jay Zarett Omnisport @EjayZarett Updated at 8:30 p.m. ET Updated at 8:30 p.m. ET Watch NFLNFL with fuboTV The 49ers could be down to their third-string quarterback Thursday. San Francisco signal caller C.J. Beathard is dealing with a sprained wrist he suffered in his team’s 18-15 Week 8 loss to the Cardinals. He was struggling to grip a football and didn’t practice Tuesday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Coach Kyle Shanahan said he’ll be a game-time decision for the primetime matchup with the Raiders. "C.J. would be good if we were playing on Sunday," Shanahan said. "But it’s going to be a test for Thursday. And we probably won’t know until then." Beathard was inserted into the starting lineup after Jimmy Garoppolo tore his ACL in late September. Beathard has completed 60.4 percent of his passes and thrown eight touchdowns, along with seven … [Read more...] about C.J. Beathard injury update: 49ers QB will be game-time decision vs. Raiders

Getty Images The 49ers may need to go with their third starting quarterback of the year when they face the Raiders on Thursday night. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that C.J. Beathard will not participate in Tuesday’s practice because of a right wrist injury. Shanahan said, via multiple reporters, that the injury is making it difficult for Beathard to hold a football and it doesn’t take decades of experience watching football to know that is a tough hurdle for a right-handed quarterback to overcome. Shanahan said that he thinks Beathard would be OK to play if the 49ers were playing on Sunday, but it would be a challenge as things currently stand. Nick Mullens has been serving as the No. 2 behind Beathard since Jimmy Garoppolo‘s torn ACL, but has never seen regular season action. Tom Savage is also on the roster and has experience as an NFL starter, although little of it was of the positive variety. … [Read more...] about C.J. Beathard out of practice with right wrist injury
