Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports The sale process of the Carolina Panthers is down to two bidders, according to a new report.Ken Belson of the New York Times reported Monday that hedge-fund billionaire David Tepper has withdrawn from bidding at the current price of $2.5 billion, leaving two main bidders. Investor Ben Navarro and Bedrock Industries CEO Alan Kestenbaum are still in the running.Navarro has reportedly offered $2.6 billion for the Panthers, though it is unknown if he would require other investors to pay up. That $2.6 billion price would easily set a record and make the Panthers the most valuable franchise in American sports in terms of sale price.That price has driven away some other bidders. Tepper was not willing to go that high, and another major contender pulled out a few weeks ago as the price continued to skyrocket. Carolina Panthers three-time Pro Bowl LB and 2014 Walter Payton Man of the Year Thomas Davis announced on Twitter Friday that he tested positive for a banned substance and will be suspended for four games.That means Davis will begin his 14th and final NFL campaign on the suspension list."I was informed that I tested positive for a banned substance," the 35-year-old Davis said on Twitter. "I was completely caught off guard by this. I've never in any way done anything to try to intentionally cheat the game. It's one of those situations where the NFL rules are clear. They state that you are responsible as a player for what you put in your body."I've taken the same supplements for the last seven or eight years and never had any issues.
