Smith and Smart's teammate Aron Baynes became tangled up in the paint during a preseason game and Smith shoved Baynes in the back after the two got unstuck. Smart didn't like that, so he went after Smith and had to be held back by multiple teammates. Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart’s time on the restricted free agent market is about to come to an end.Earlier on Wednesday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Smart and the Celtics were seriously engaged in contract talks.Now comes this note from Jordan Schultz of Yahoo! Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge and restricted free agent Marcus Smart’s agent, Happy Walters, are “seriously engaged” in contract talks, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Wednesday. Wojnarowski reports the deal is in the four-year, $46-50 million range. Smart has only received a $6 million qualifying offer from Boston, but told ESPN’s Jackie MacMullan’s he thinks he’s worth “more than $12-14 million” per year. Smart is a restricted free agent whom the Celtics offered a one-year, $6 million qualifying offer. No other team has given Smart an offer yet, though he was seen talking to Nets general manager Sean Marks Monday, according to the Athletic.
