THERE WAS A STRAIN OF WISTFULNESS woven through the obituaries for Mario Cuomo after he died on the first day of 2015. Well before there was Tinder, Democrats have seemed unable to stop swiping left. Related Links … [Read more...] about The Democrats’ choice problem: Which candidate can beat Trump in 2020?
Middlesbrough suffered their second successive home defeat after a 2-1 defeat by Preston North End - and there was plenty to discuss after the game. Just like against Brentford on Saturday afternoon, Tony Pulis allowed a first-half lead to slip through their grasp following Ashley Fletcher's 32nd-minute opener.Yet there was more than a hint of controversy as Daniel Ayala's second-half red card flipped the game on it's head, allowing Preston captain Paul Gallagher to score from the resulting free-kick.Substitute Jayden Stockley then headed home the winner nine minutes from time, meaning Boro's buffer inside the play-off has now been eroded to just three points. Here are some of the main talking points from the game:Alex Neil’s honest assessment after game-changing decisionThe Preston boss wasn’t the most popular figure inside the Riverside when he backheeled the ball away to waste time at the death.Yet his verdict on Daniel Ayala’s red card, which changed the game when … [Read more...] about Play-off buffer eroded ahead of Aston Villa and Norwich tests plus Alex Neil’s honest assessment: Six talking points after Middlesbrough’s loss to Preston

The Boston Celtics blew them out in their previous game, their fifth home loss by 20-plus points, and they were preparing to host the No. 2 seed Denver Nuggets. With 18 games left in the season, he felt it was time to turn it up and lock-in. "We've had to pace ourselves somewhat the last two seasons, and I think you can tell," Kerr told reporters, via the Mercury News' Mark Medina. "That's over with."Kerr said that the Warriors, champions in three of the last four seasons, had a discussion about purpose: Why are we doing this? He mentioned wanting to honor their final season at Oracle Arena, and he said that the players made it clear they want to … [Read more...] about As contenders stumble, is ‘flipping the switch’ a choice for the Warriors, Celtics and Raptors?
