So says Marketmen boss Richard Wilkins who watched his side lose their first Southern League Central Premier Division clash of the season on Saturday – 0-2 to Barwell. After two terrific opening league victories, 4-0 against Bedworth and 8-1 against Hitchin, it was ‘After the Lord Mayor’s Show’ for Wilkins’ side against an organised Barwell.“I think it is safe to say we could have done with a game on Tuesday this week after the Barwell match,” Wilkins said.“We were disjointed and we need to be better.“It was all rather strange. Whereas in the first two games everything we did went right for us, against Barwell everything we did went wrong.“A cross went into the near post and our strikers were at the back post, that sort of thing.“But … [Read more...] about Needham Market boss looks ahead to St Ives and Leiston clashes

The England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed, less than 24 hours after the team’s innings-and-159-run victory at Lord’s, that the selectors have stuck with a winning line-up. Stokes had to miss the second Test because of a clash with his ongoing affray case at Bristol Crown Court. An outcome to those proceedings is anticipated before England arrive in Nottingham on Thursday, for a match which starts two days later – with the hosts leading the five-match series 2-0. ‘I absolutely love the game
A SCATTERING of blue and white flags flutter from lampposts as cars jockey for position on the main street in Carrickmacross, busy even early on a Wednesday morning. There’s bunting hanging here and there too, but no sign of any painted cars or decorated livestock. In just four days’ time Monaghan will appear in a first All-Ireland semi-final for 30 years.
