Tadd Haislop @TaddHaislop Updated at 10:46 a.m. ET Updated at 10:46 a.m. ET The conversation around the rookie of the year award intensified late in the 2018 season as the likes of Baker Mayfield and Lamar Jackson had more success. And really, those two, plus Sam Darnold, Josh Allen and Josh Rosen, all quarterbacks drafted in the first round, hogged much of the media focus when it came to rookies in the NFL. Not for players around the league. They largely were in awe of Saquon Barkely, the running back the Giants selected No. 2 overall. And thanks to those players' votes, Barkley is the Sporting News rookie of the year for 2018. We'll get to the numbers, but few rookie running backs can pass the eye test the way Barkely did. The string of eyebrow-raising highlight plays began in Week 1, when Barkley broke a 68-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter against the Jaguars. He posted 106 … [Read more...] about NFL players vote Saquon Barkley Sporting News rookie of the year for 2018

Dez Bryant has said he wants to face the Cowboys twice next season by Ryan Wilson @ryanwilson_07 48s ago • 1 min read It's been two-and-a-half months since the Cowboys released Dez Bryant and the 2010 first-round pick remains out of work. A week after becoming a free agent, Bryant reportedly turned down a multi-year offer from the Ravens and could end up waiting until training camp to find a new team. Former Cowboys teammate Orlando Scandrick signed with the division-rival Redskins in March, and the defensive back would love to be reunited with Bryant in Washington. "I know Dez can still catch touchdowns," Scandrick told NFL Network recently. "I know he can still be a great red zone threat, and I would love to play with him again." Bryant made it clear he would love to face the Cowboys twice next season, and the easiest way to insure that happens is to sign with a team in the NFC East. And as it turns out, the Redskins have a need for a … [Read more...] about Former Cowboys teammate would love to play with Dez Bryant in Washington

The legendary Cowboys receiver is hearing big things about Cedrick Wilson, the sixth-round pick out of Boise State by Will Brinson @WillBrinson 1m ago • 2 min read If there's one thing that Drew Pearson knows about, it's Cowboys wide receivers. As one of the greatest wideouts in franchise history, Pearson is uniquely qualified to dish on the subject (the team's top wideout gets his No. 88 after all). He's also a big "The Young and the Restless" fan as well, and you can read more about that here, or listen to the interview below OR just go ahead and subscribe to the Pick Six Podcast to get your daily dose of NFL news, notes and interesting interviews (Subscribe: via iTunes | via Stitcher | via TuneIn | via Google Play). What interested me from the back end of the interview with Pearson was a discussion of the shifting offensive personnel in Dallas. Out are Jason Witten and Dez Bryant, which is tough for Dak … [Read more...] about Pick Six Podcast: Cowboys legend Drew Pearson identifies potential breakout Dallas WR
The Super Bowl winner checked something else off his bucket list by Will Brinson @WillBrinson 1m ago • 3 min read Soap operas are funny in that they bring in an incredibly diverse demographic of people who enjoy the daytime drama on network television, including former Cowboys star wide receiver Drew Pearson, a diehard fan of "The Young and the Restless." Pearson, who once led the NFL in receiving, won a Super Bowl and now sees his No. 88 honored by being given to the best Cowboys receiver at the time, got the chance of a lifetime by playing Victor Newman's bodyguard in a cameo role designed specifically for him. "The part they had me playing was a security guard, working for Victor Newman, which is perfect, because he's my hero," Pearson told CBS Sports. "He's the real person I gravitated toward back in the day when I first started watching 'Young and the Restless.' So I was [playing] that as opposed to Drew Pearson, former NFL player, … [Read more...] about Cowboys legend Drew Pearson fulfills dream with cameo on ‘The Young and the Restless’
