Can’t Beg People To Play For West Indies, Says Dejected Head Coach Phil Simmons | Cricket News
"I don't think that I should be begging people to play for the West Indies," said the team's dejected chief coach Phil Simmons . The former opener expressed his disappointment even as the board struggles to zero in on their best squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, with most cricketers either playing franchise league elsewhere or out injured. "It hurts. There's no other way to put it. But what can you do? I don't think that I should be begging people to play for their countries. I think if you want to represent West Indies, you will make yourself available," Simmons was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. "Life has changed, in that people have the opportunities to go different places and if they choose that over West Indies, that's just how it is," he added. The list of absentees is long. Andre Russell hasn't made himself available for selection as the star all-rounder -- along with Sunil Narine -- is currently playing the Hundred. India vs England, 3rd T20I, Nottingham: Suryakumar Yadav was in his element in the third and final T20I against England at Trent Bridge as the India batter smashed a brilliant hundred to keep India in the hunt of chasing down a mammoth target of 215 set by the hosts. For Virat Kohli India’s Victory Is More Important Than Anything Else, Says Childhood Coach Rajkumar Sharma
New Delhi: Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma has revealed that the star batter is not ‘under pressure’ to hit his long-awaited 71st century, adding that he never goes after records and contributing to India’s win is important for him rather than worrying about the personal milestone. The 33-year-old Kohli has gone more than 100 innings in all forms of cricket including IPL without scoring a hundred since hitting 136 in Kolkata against Bangladesh in November 2019. He has often got starts but he hasn’t been able to convert them into big scores. He has even passed fifty several times since that innings in Kolkata but hasn’t managed to hit his 71st international century yet. “No, he is not at all under pressure. Contributing to the team and India’s victory is more important for him rather than getting his hundred. He never goes after records. So, as long as he’s doing well and is contributing well with the bat, he is not worried about his personal milestone,” Rajkumar told … [Read more...] about For Virat Kohli India’s Victory Is More Important Than Anything Else, Says Childhood Coach Rajkumar Sharma
