Getty Images Chicago's Wrigley Field is baseball's second-oldest ballpark and it has nearly unmatched charm and character. Count Boston Red Sox rookie righty Josh Winckowski among those not impressed with the Friendly Confines. He called the home of the Chicago Cubs a "little underwhelming" following his start Saturday afternoon ( CHC 3, BOS 1 ). "A little underwhelming," Winckowski told reporters, including MassLive.com . "Fenway kind of has a presence to it. I really didn't get that here, to be honest. I said to my mom last night, this place is very stock standard, if you ask me. I didn't really feel anything, to be honest. It kind of just felt like another ballpark." ENG vs IND 5th Test, Day 3: Cheteshwar Pujara Fifty Puts India In Commanding Position | Cricket News
India's famed pace bowling unit for the umpteenth time put its team in pole position, bowling out England for 284 before the hosts just about managed to put a foot in the door by getting the top-order cheaply in an engrossing third day's play in the fifth Test. At stumps, India were 125 for 3 in their second innings with Cheteshwar Pujara (50 batting, 139 balls) displaying his gutsy avatar with a half-century, battling it out in the company of the flamboyant Rishabh Pant (30 batting, 46 balls). The overall lead stood at 257 runs. However, the dismissals of Shubman Gill (4), Hanuma Vihari (11) and Virat Kohli (20) would make the visitors uncomfortable going into the final day. Kohli, as usual, got the best delivery of the entire third day's play when rival skipper Ben Stokes got one to rear up off length and no batter would have survived such a delivery with less than split second of reaction time. Kohli, who was standing a good two feet outside the batting crease, … [Read more...] about ENG vs IND 5th Test, Day 3: Cheteshwar Pujara Fifty Puts India In Commanding Position | Cricket News
Zhou Guanyu Escapes Serious Injury After Multi-Car Horror Crash At British Grand Prix | Formula 1 News
The British Grand Prix was red-flagged after a horror opening-corner multi-car smash at Silverstone on Sunday, with Zhou Guanyu's Alfa Romeo flipped upside down and hurtling over the circuit's safety barrier. As Max Verstappen pipped pole sitter Carlos Sainz to the first corner there was "carnage" behind with marshalls rushing to Zhou trapped in his stricken car. George Russell's Mercedes, Alpine's Esteban Ocon, Yuki Tsunoda (Alpha Tauri) and the Williams of Alex Albon were also involved. Zhou's car was catapulted upside down, the Chinese rookie's head saved by his car's roll hoop-halo as it skidded off across a gravel trap and over tyre barriers into the catch fencing, where it bounced back to finish semi-upright in a stationary position. Detailed replays of the accident were not available immediately until Zhou had been rescued from his car. He was attended by emergency evacuation medical crews and lifted out, transferred on to a stretcher and taken by ambulance to the … [Read more...] about Zhou Guanyu Escapes Serious Injury After Multi-Car Horror Crash At British Grand Prix | Formula 1 News
Women’s Hockey World Cup: India, England Play Out 1-1 Draw | Hockey News
The Indian women's hockey team played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw against England in its opening match of the FIH World Cup here on Sunday. England took the lead through Isabella Petter in the ninth minute before Vandana Katariya equalised for India in the 28th minute. There was hardly anything to differentiate between the two sides in the first two quarters as they matched each other stick for stick. The Indians had the first shy at the goal as early as in the first minute in the form of a penalty corner, but they wasted the opportunity. Minutes later, skipper Savita made a fine save in front of the goal to deny the English women. After a neck and neck fight it was England who took the lead through Petter who neatly deflecting in a ball from outside the 'D'. India responded brilliantly and secured back-to-back penalty corners seconds later, but Gurjit Kaur was first denied by the post and then by English goalkeeper Hinch. The Indians kept up their tempo and continued to … [Read more...] about Women’s Hockey World Cup: India, England Play Out 1-1 Draw | Hockey News
Join Me…: Brian Lara Creates A Thread To Congratulate Jasprit Bumrah For Breaking His 19-Year-Old Record | See Epic Tweet
England vs India, 5th Test, Edgbaston: Former West Indies captain Brian Lara took to Twitter and congratulated India stand-in captain for the Edgbaston Test Jasprit Bumrah for taking 35 runs off a Stuart Broad over in the first session of the second day’s play of the rescheduled Test match in Birmingham . Bumrah went past Lara in the process, who took 28 runs off Robin Peterson in 2003 against South Africa. Other notable players to have scored 28 runs in one over are George Bailey and Keshav Maharaj . Bumrah scored 29 runs off the bat while the other six runs were extras in the form of a wide boundary and a no-ball six. Broad, as luck would have it, was also hit for six sixes in an over by India great Yuvraj Singh in the T20 World Cup in 2007. It goes without saying that Broad would like to forget both the incidents coming in two different forms of the game.
