England gamble on seamers shining with pink ball fails to pay off as spinners star on day one

· February 24, 2021 ·

England will have had their eyes on this day-night Test match for some time. It had nothing to do with the brand, spanking new 110,000-seater stadium or even the pitch they expected to play on in Ahmedabad; it was all about getting that pink ball in the hands of their seamers under lights. In fairness to them, they managed to do just that on day one of the third Test. Unfortunately, that was due to them getting bundled out for just 112 having won the toss and chosen to bat. England in trouble after being spun out for 112 Third Test scorecard: India vs England Before we go any further, it is important to note that that is the overriding problem for England. You are not going to win many Test matches in the subcontinent, or anywhere else for that matter, if you are getting bowled out inside two sessions of the first day and barely make it to three figures. What makes matters worse though, is that it is looking increasingly likely that the tourists have got the … [Read more...] about England gamble on seamers shining with pink ball fails to pay off as spinners star on day one

Gavin Henson: Former Wales international surprised by intensity of rugby league training sessions

· February 10, 2021 ·

Gavin Henson says he has had his eyes opened in his first three training sessions in rugby league as he prepares to make his debut in the 13-man code. The former Wales and British and Irish Lions fly-half is set to come out of retirement at the age of 39 after switching codes and signing for third-tier part-timers West Wales Raiders for 2021. The Llanelli-based Raiders are poised to return to action - after a year's absence due to the coronavirus pandemic - in the Betfred Challenge Cup on the weekend of March 20 and Henson will discover his first potential opponents when the first-round draw is made on Thursday. "I'm very much looking forward to it and I'm looking forward to seeing who we get in the cup," Henson told the Betfred podcast . Henson, who won 33 caps with Wales during his career with Ospreys, Bath and Bristol, has not played since being released by Dragons at the end of the 2018-19 season and was beginning to put all his energy into his new pub business until … [Read more...] about Gavin Henson: Former Wales international surprised by intensity of rugby league training sessions

Islamabad United batsmen make it two in two

PAKISTAN SUPER LEAGUE 2021 by Cricbuzz Staff • Published on Share Tweet Hitting 8 fours and a six, Hales's 21-ball 46 got Islamabad on course after the initial stutter. © Getty Islamabad United overhauled a total of 196 to register their second victory on the trot in the Pakistan Super League, 2021. While the chase did not begin in ideal fashion - Philip Salt and Shadab Khan falling for ducks - it was resurrected through a blistering cameo by Alex Hales. Hitting 8 fours and a six, Hales's 21-ball 46 got Islamabad on course after the initial stutter. While he and Faheem Ashraf (25 off 15) fell in successive overs, the powerplay had been utilised well, with 77 runs being knocked off in the first 6 overs. That momentum was extended in a 94-run stand between Iftikhar Ahmed and Hussain Talat before Asif Ali gave the finishing touches to a clinical chase. Earlier, Karachi Kings posted a mammoth total of 196 thanks to a 176-run … [Read more...] about Islamabad United batsmen make it two in two

· February 21, 2021 ·

Results | Fixtures | Points Table Goa took a quickfire lead through Igor Angulo (20') and Redeem Tlang (23') before Suresh Wangjam (33') cut short Bengaluru's deficit. With the result, Goa not only consolidated their spot in the top four but are also now unbeaten in 12 games - matching their own record between 2014 and 2015 and Mumbai City's 12-game run this season. 1 2183425 BFC started the game brightly but a lapse in concentration from them saw Goa break the deadlock. Glan Martins dispossessed Erik Paartalu just outside the box before finding Angulo. The striker made his way into the box before burying his shot at the far post, leaving BFC keeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu with no chance. Just minutes later, Tlang doubled Goa's tally. After Rahul Bheke failed to clear a cross, Alexander Jesuraj got to the ball and flicked it towards the path of Tlang, who scored his first goal in Goa colours with a well-taken strike. Just when it looked like Goa were in the driving … [Read more...] about ISL 2020-21: FC Goa firm up playoff hopes as Bengaluru FC bid goodbye
