Getty Images Joey Chestnut's latest victory in the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4 may very well have been his most convoluted yet. The famed competitive eater managed to win the contest for the 15th time despite being on crutches -- and despite being interrupted in the middle of the event by a protestor. During the hot dog eating contest, Chestnut's performance was briefly disturbed when an animal rights protestor in a Darth Vader mask stormed the stage, holding up an "Expose Smithfield's Deathstar" sign before being put in a chokehold and taken down by Chestnut himself. Nick Kyrgios Races Into Wimbledon Semi-finals With Win Over Cristian Garin | Tennis News
Nick Kyrgios reached his first Grand Slam semi-final at Wimbledon on Wednesday when the controversial Australian defeated Cristian Garin of Chile in straight sets. The world number 40 raced to a 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (7/5) win and will tackle either Rafael Nadal or Taylor Fritz for a place in the final. "I never thought I'd be in the semi-final of a Grand Slam. I thought that ship had sailed, that I may have wasted that little window in my career," said Kyrgios. "I am really happy I was able to come out here with my team and able to put on a performance." He added: "I felt I was playing on the back foot a lot. Garin's a hell of a player. I got lucky on a couple of break points so I'll take that and will prepare for my next match." 2022 New York Knicks Summer League: Roster, schedule, TV channel, live stream, players to watch
Getty Images After making the playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade in 2021, the New York Knicks were not able to build on that success last season. They took a major step back and finished in 11th place with just 37 wins -- a mark that wasn't even good enough for the play-in tournament. They've responded with an aggressive offseason approach focused on signing Jalen Brunson in free agency. In fact, they may have been a bit too eager, as league sources expect the Knicks will get penalized for tampering, according to Fred Katz . Reports emerged of a four-year, $104 million deal before free agency officially opened. Of course, the Knicks won't care, and any fine or loss of a draft pick will be worth the price to get their man. Speaking of draft picks, the Knicks traded out of the first round this year, using a series of deals to acquire future first-round picks and clear cap space to make a worthy offer to Brunson. That will make Knicks' Summer League experience … [Read more...] about 2022 New York Knicks Summer League: Roster, schedule, TV channel, live stream, players to watch
NHL Draft 2022: Shane Wright, Matthew Savoie, Jonathan Lekkerimaki, other top prospects available in Round 1
Getty Images The first order of business this NHL offseason is the 2022 Draft. It'll be here soon, as the opening round is set for Thursday evening. Kingston Frontenacs (Ontario Hockey League) center Shane Wright has been tabbed as the top prospect in the 2022 class. It's fairly likely that he'll go to the Montreal Canadiens with the top pick, but it's not a slam dunk like we've seen in recent years with the likes of Owen Power , Alexis Lafreniere and Jack Hughes going No. 1. So as the 2022 Draft draws closer, and that uncertainty up top lingers, here's a closer look at some of the top prospects that will hear their names called during Round 1. Shane Wright - C, Kingston (OHL) Wright isn't a shoe-in for the top pick, but he has a tremendous amount of upside that warrants the Canadiens grabbing him at No. 1. The Kingston center is about as lethal as it gets when he has the puck in open space. He possesses a deadly accurate shot. Over his past two seasons with the … [Read more...] about NHL Draft 2022: Shane Wright, Matthew Savoie, Jonathan Lekkerimaki, other top prospects available in Round 1
Hampered Nadal gets past Fritz at Wimbledon – NBC Sports
WIMBLEDON, England — Wincing from abdominal pain, unable to ply his customary relentless style of tennis, Rafael Nadal worried that he might need to stop playing in the Wimbledon quarterfinals against Taylor Fritz. Up in the Centre Court stands, Nadal’s father was waving his arms, motioning to the 22-time Grand Slam champion to quit. Not surprisingly, perhaps, the kid didn’t listen. Nadal stayed out there, adjusted his service motion and his strategy – and figured out a way to win. With much of the crowd roaring and standing after Nadal’s best strokes, he twice erased one-set deficits against the 11th-seeded Fritz and emerged with 3-6, 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (10-4) victory to reach his eighth semifinal at the All England Club. “For a lot of moments,” Nadal said, “I was thinking, `Maybe I will not be able to finish the match.”‘ He got to his 38th career major semifinal by denying what would have been a first such appearance for Fritz, a 24-year-old American who defeated Nadal in the … [Read more...] about Hampered Nadal gets past Fritz at Wimbledon – NBC Sports
