A rundown of every single Super Bowl trip that Brady has made for the Patriots dynasty by Cody Benjamin 47s ago • 2 min read "The New England Patriots are back in the Super Bowl."It's an evergreen statement if you're talking about the 2000s-2010s. And it applies yet again, now that the 2018 conference championships have been decided and we have our Super Bowl LIII matchup: Patriots vs. Los Angeles Rams. The Patriots are absolutely no strangers to controversy, and you'd have no trouble finding plenty of fans who still hold their past scandals (see: Spygate, Deflategate, Whatever-else-you-can-think-of-gate) against them. But there's also no denying that quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick have set a new -- and ridiculous -- standard when it comes to consistently clutch performances. At age 41, in fact, Brady himself has now secured more Super Bowl appearances than every single team in the NFL outside of his own Patriots. So if it seems like … [Read more...] about Tom Brady’s Super Bowl appearances with Patriots: Wins, losses, record, rings, MVPs
Eagles super bowl appearances
Talk about a hangover. Eagles fans are stumbling along, halfway through the season, with waning good feelings about the defending Super Bowl champs being 3-4 to start the season. The latest FanPulse survey revealed that just 38 percent of Eagles fans were confident about the direction of the team right now. So what’s wrong with the Eagles? You can point to a few different things. Big plays are one problem. The offense was the 15th best at generating them last season. This year, they were 22nd prior to a Week 7 loss to the Panthers. On the other side of the ball, the defense was the 4h best at preventing big plays; they’re 28th this year, so far. As you can see, it’s just a lot of blah on both sides of the ball. Carson Wentz is getting better since his return in September, but he’s still having a little trouble closing out games. He was 23-for-27 with 281 in the first three quarters of last week’s loss, but he was 6-for-9 with 29 yards and only two … [Read more...] about NFL Panic Index: Just how bad is the Eagles’ Super Bowl hangover?
On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles fell to 2-3 on the season with a 23-21 loss to the Minnesota Vikings at home. For the defending Super Bowl champions, that matches their loss total from all of last year — and needless to say, the city of Philadelphia is getting restless. In some ways, it's almost like they never won the Super Bowl at all. Sure, there's still time for the Eagles to turn it around — although they won't have long to prepare for their next game at the Giants on Thursday night — but it seems that Philly fans are the only ones losing faith in Doug Pederson's team. It also appears that the Birds are losing favor among Vegas oddsmakers. The Westgate SuperBook, for instance, has dropped the Eagles' odds of winning the Super Bowl to 40-1. That's clearly not where the Eagles thought they'd be five games into the season, with a worse record than the Cleveland Browns (2-2-1). So who is to blame for the Birds' slow start? According to many, it begins at the … [Read more...] about What they’re saying: It’s open season on Doug Pederson as Eagles’ Super Bowl odds plummet
Gallery: Falcons will try to ruin Eagles' Super Bowl celebration as NFL season kicks off +2 more photos PHILADELPHIA — Before the Philadelphia Eagles begin their quest to repeat as NFL champions, they'll have one more celebration Thursday night. The first Super Bowl banner in franchise history will be unveiled in front of a sellout crowd that waited seemingly forever to witness the moment. Then it's on to trying to earn another banner. Eagles coach Doug Pederson and his veteran players have preached throughout the offseason the importance of moving forward and focusing on the present if they are going to have any chance of becoming the ninth team to repeat as Super Bowl champions. They will host a tough opponent in the NFL's 2018 regular-season opener. The Atlanta Falcons were 2 yards away from knocking the Eagles out of the playoffs in the divisional round last season, but Matt Ryan's pass to Julio Jones fell incomplete in the right corner of the end zone. "It's going to … [Read more...] about Falcons will try to ruin Eagles’ Super Bowl celebration as NFL season kicks off
The results of preseason games may be meaningless, but don't tell that to the oddsmakers setting the lines out in Vegas — or the fans betting on the NFL, depending on how you look at it. After an ugly 5-0 loss to the Browns on Thursday night, it appears faith in the Eagles in on the decline. Sure, there are some reasons for concern after three straight sloppy losses, but for the most part, the defense has looked just fine. And let's not forget that we're watching an intentionally vanilla offense that's been playing without its starting quarterback, it's top two wide receivers and, in some cases, without its top three running backs. Oh, did I forget its starting, perennial Pro Bowl left tackle? And for those concerned about the status of the team's starting quarterback, he was seen on the field going through what looked like a more standard pre-game routine, almost as if he was preparing to play.Could that — combined with his recent return to 11-on-11 drills — mean … [Read more...] about Eagles’ Super Bowl odds drop after another sloppy preseason loss
