As expected, Super Bowl MVP and Philadelphia Eagles legend Nick Foles has found a new home in Jacksonville, as he has signed with the Jaguars, on a new four-year deal. The deal is for $22 million per year, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, with a maximum amount of $102 million, per Mike Garafolo: It's over $50 million in guarantees, per Adam Schefter of ESPN: When the Eagles opted not to franchise tag him after a solid market didn't develop for his services, Foles was free to walk in free agency. Because he was not released, and his contract simply ran out, Foles will count toward the compensatory pick formula, and the size of his contract will unquestionably count at the highest comp pick level, in the third round.Fare thee well, BDN.Follow Jimmy & PhillyVoice on Twitter: @JimmyKempski | @thePhillyVoiceLike us on Facebook: PhillyVoice SportsAdd Jimmy's RSS feed to your feed reader … [Read more...] about Eagles Super Bowl MVP QB Nick Foles signs with the Jacksonville Jaguars

The Eagles are letting Foles leave in free agency and he could land in Jacksonville by Jared Dubin @jadubin5 Mar 3, 2019 at 1:40 pm ET • 1 min read One of the most long-rumored pairings in the NFL is apparently going to come to fruition this offseason. Nick Foles is not long for Philadelphia as the Eagles have decided to let the former Super Bowl MVP hit free agency rather than use the franchise tag on him, and it appears he may finally be headed to Jacksonville, as was rumored for much of last offseason before the Eagles decided to bring Foles back as Carson Wentz's backup for one more year. The Jaguars now expect to bring Foles into the fold once free agency opens, according to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Inquirer. The only Eagles quarterback to ever win a Super Bowl is bound for Jacksonville when NFL free agency opens March 13, according to NFL sources with knowledge of the situation.A market for Nick Foles outside of Jacksonville has not … [Read more...] about Nick Foles rumors: Jaguars reportedly expect to sign former Eagles Super Bowl MVP in free agency
In our Eagles chat this week, there were a lot of questions that we could not get to in time or other questions we did answer but could use more color. And so, we did a mailbag yesterday. We'll do another one today.Question from JrzyDvlDownSouth: Jimmy can you do an article on how many teams have won the Super Bowl with the quarterback on their second or third contract? Wondering what the odds are once the team commits big money to the quarterback.Having a good quarterback who is still on his rookie contract is a really nice advantage, since there is more money available to build a strong roster around him. However, that window is small, and typically, first-contract quarterbacks haven't even begun to scratch the surface of what they can eventually become with more experience. The idea that it's increasingly difficult to win a Super Bowl with a quarterback after he has gotten a lucrative new deal is one of those new, trendy talking points, but it isn't based on historical … [Read more...] about Mailbag: Are the Eagles’ Super Bowl hopes doomed after Carson Wentz gets paid?

The Saints advanced to host the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship game after escaping a first-quarter scare. After falling behind 14-0, the Saints rallied to stop the Eagles putting another point on the board in the remaining three quarters. Quarterback Drew Brees threw for 301 yards and two touchdowns while receiver Michael Thomas recorded 12 receptions for 171 yards and a touchdown. The Rams earlier edged out Dallas Cowboys 30-22 to book their place in the NFC Championship game, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. For about 15 minutes, the Eagles had us believing. In a first quarter that saw the Birds explode to a 14-0 lead, everything was going right. But then, for whatever reason (be it fatigue, injuries or something more existential), the team from Week 11 that couldn't do a single thing right returned and ended the Eagles' season in New Orleans, 20-14.It seemed surreal for a team and quarterback in Nick Foles, who pull off the impossible week after week, but the magic ended in heartbreaking fashion as a promising comeback drive ended in a tip and interception at the two-minute warning. The Saints will move on and host the Rams for the right to go to Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta while the Eagles will clean out their lockers after an incredible two-month run that prolonged the ecstasy from last year's Super Bowl title for just a little bit longer. As we turn the page to the combine, to the draft and to all the difficult roster decisions ahead, here's a recap of what was almost a game to remember … [Read more...] about Eagles Super Bowl defense finally ends as Saints prove too much to handle
