After five years of being shunned by the NFL, Colin Kaepernick was finally given an opportunity to try to make a return to the league on Wednesday when the Raiders brought him in for a workout . Although Kaepernick doesn't have a contract offer from anyone yet, it's still very possible that he could end up returning to the NFL this year. For one, the Raiders were actually "impressed" by Kaepernick during the workout, according to NFL.com , which means there's definitely a possibility that they could end up signing him. According to ESPN , the Raiders were specifically impressed by Kaepernick's arm strength and overall conditioning. Despite the rave reviews, Raiders coach Josh McDaniels didn't hint at whether his team might end up signing the free agent quarterback, telling reporters that he doesn't talk about anyone not currently on the team. "We've brought in tons of people for workouts," McDaniels added during his press conference Thursday, "If there's an … [Read more...] about Colin Kaepernick was eyed by multiple teams before Raiders workout where he impressed everyone, per report

Chellsie Memmel and Alicia Sacramone Quinn , who were on the 2008 U.S. Olympic silver medal team, and longtime coach Dan Baker have been named the leaders of the U.S. women’s gymnastics program. After USA Gymnastics changed its model from a single director to a trio, Memmel will be the technical lead, Quinn the strategic lead and Baker the developmental lead. They start next week. “We are extremely pleased to have this well-rounded team of leaders to drive our program, from development to the Olympic stage,” U.S. women’s gymnastics vice president Annie Heffernon said in a press release . “They bring decades of experience in coaching, talent development, judging and elite competition. To have Olympians return to our national team in coaching and strategic capacities will have an even bigger impact on the next generation of women’s elite athletes.” Memmel, who last year came out of a nine-year retirement and competed at nationals, will direct national team camps while … [Read more...] about Chellsie Memmel, Alicia Sacramone Quinn lead U.S. women’s gymnastics

USA Gymnastics is turning to two of its most-decorated athletes to help guide its women’s elite program. Alicia Sacramone Quinn and Chellsie Memmel, teammates on the 2008 U.S. Olympic team that earned silver in Beijing, are part of the new leadership paradigm within the organization. Memmel, the 2005 world champion, will be the technical lead for the women’s program. Sacramone, a 10-time world championship medalist, will serve as the program’s strategic lead. They will be joined in the new system by Dan Baker, who will transition from the elite team women’s developmental coordinator to the developmental lead. All three will begin their new positions on June 1. The technical, strategic and developmental lead positions were established in March following the resignation of high-performance director Tom Forster, who stepped down last November after leading the U.S. women to gold at the 2018 and 2019 world championships and silver at the Tokyo Olympics. Sri Lankan seamers cut through the Bangladesh top order in the second innings after centuries from Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal gave the visitors a commanding lead in the second Test in Dhaka on Thursday. Bangladesh were a dangerous 34-4 at stumps on the fourth day and still need another 107 runs to ward off an innings defeat. The visitors were all out for 506 runs in the day's final session, with Shakib Al Hasan claiming his 19th Test five-for and pacer Ebadot Hossain finishing 4-148. The hosts fell into trouble in the sixth over as Asitha Fernando delivered opener Tamim Iqbal his second duck of the Test, returning after a catch in second slip from Kusal Mendis . Najmul Hossain (two), Mominul Haque (0) and Mahmudul Hasan (15) followed him in quick succession as Fernando and Kasun Rajitha ripped through the top order to finish with 2-12 and 1-12 respectively. Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das, who shared 272 in the first innings and slammed a century each, … [Read more...] about BAN vs SL, 2nd Test, Day 4 Report: Bangladesh Top Order Stumbles After Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal Hit Centuries | Cricket News

USATSI Just as we did last year and the year before that and the year before that and the year before that and the year before that , the crew here at CBSSports.com recently set out to rank each NFL team 's "triplets." Why not, right? It's the middle of the offseason, and it's an offseason tradition around these parts. So in the space below, we're once again counting down the NFL 's best QB-RB-WR/TE trios, grading the expected starters at quarterback and running back and their presumed top pass-catcher for the 2022 NFL season. For some teams, it was obvious who would fill each role. For others, less so. Where we had to make judgment calls on which player would start at quarterback or who would be the top target, we did. In the space below, you'll see our rankings of these triplets. The first number in parentheses is the team's average ranking based on the votes of several of our staff writers and editors at CBSSports.com, while the second number reflects the … [Read more...] about Ranking NFL 2022 ‘Triplets,’ Part I: Bears, Falcons among least inspiring; Saints, Dolphins just below average

‘You Guys Are So Thin! How Can You Hit A Six?’ – When Richard Hadlee Was Left Red Faced After Challenging Indian Players

May 26, 2022 by www.cricketcountry.com Leave a Comment

New Delhi: Indian women’s cricket has been on a steep rise in the last few years. Players like Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Shafali Verma, and Jemimah Rodrigues among others have transformed the Indian women’s team into a ruthless unit. The Indian women’s team of today is considered one of the best teams going around. However, despite making it to three World Cup finals (two ODI World Cups and one T20 World Cup), the team is yet to become a world champion. In the recently concluded ODI World Cup, the team failed to make an impact and crashed out of the tournament without making it to the semi-finals. Their next major event will be the Commonwealth Games in England. Despite the below-par performance in World Cup 2022, Indian fans will be pleased with the transformation of the team in recent years. The BCCI has also put a lot of effort into the growth of Women’s cricket and the team has paid dividends to the board with some great performances. However, initially, Women’s … [Read more...] about ‘You Guys Are So Thin! How Can You Hit A Six?’ – When Richard Hadlee Was Left Red Faced After Challenging Indian Players

Real Madrid remain Europe's most valuable football club despite the ever-increasing dominance of the English Premier League, according to two reports by analysts published Thursday. The Football Benchmark report, which ranks Europe's 32 most prominent clubs on their value based on their annual financial statements and assessing squad values, put Real top with a valuation of 3.184 billion euros ($3.4 billion). Real, who face Liverpool in Saturday's Champions League final, came out on top for the fourth consecutive year of the report. That is still short of their valuation in 2020, just before the pandemic, of nearly 3.5 billion euros, although the report points out that they were one of few clubs to register a net profit in both seasons impacted by the pandemic. In a separate study, Forbes also ranked Real top but with a valuation of $5.1 billion. "Real Madrid have extended their lead at the top due to continuous sporting and commercial success," said the Football Benchmark … [Read more...] about Real Madrid Remain Europe’s Most Valuable Football Club: Report | Football News
