Manchester United are interested in signing Brighton defensive midfielder Moises Caicedo - but a deal for Juventus' Adrien Rabiot is now increasingly unlikely. The club have not been able to meet Rabiot's wage demands after a broad agreement had been reached with Juventus on a £15m fee. With a little over two weeks to go in the transfer window, United are looking at other midfield options - and Caicedo is in their sights. Brighton have no intention of selling but United are expected to make an offer. Marcus Rashford: Paris Saint-Germain unlikely to follow up transfer interest in Manchester United forward
Paris Saint-Germain are looking to sign a forward this month but at this stage they are unlikely to follow up their initial interest in Marcus Rashford. Manchester United are relaxed about the situation because Rashford is committed to the club and he effectively has two years left on his contract - one year plus an option for another year. Rashford's representatives are believed to have held talks with PSG last week. PSG have already signed players such as Renato Sanches, Vitinha and Hugo Ekitike this summer. They are in talks to sign Fabian Ruiz from Napoli and any more arrivals are likely to depend on more players leaving the club. PSG have declined to comment on the reports in France this evening linking them with a move for Rashford. Trending Transfer Centre LIVE! 2022 WNBA playoffs: Chicago Sky vs. New York Liberty first-round preview, keys to series, players to watch
Getty Images Now that the regular season is in the books it's time to look ahead to the WNBA playoffs, and unlike the last few years there's a different format for the start of the postseason. Instead of the first two rounds being single-elimination games, the league opted for the first round to be made up of four best-of-three series to open the playoffs. In addition to that change, the top four seeds in the playoffs won't receive automatic byes, which could level the playing field a bit. The playoff action will get started on Wednesday when the No. 2 Chicago Sky will begin their title defense against the seventh-seeded New York Liberty. The Sky, led by All-Stars Candace Parker, Courtney Vandersloot, Kahleah Copper and Emma Meesseman, have been one of the top teams all season long. While they stumbled at the end of the season, this team is capable of flipping a switch and completely dominating opponents, as evidenced from their franchise-record 26 wins this season. Jeremy Lin on the fight Stephen Curry faced to play his own way and lasting effects of ‘Linsanity’
San Francisco was the epicentre of the NBA universe this summer and as a Bay Area boy raised in nearby Palo Alto, Jeremy Lin will no doubt have been aware of the party fervour as the Golden State Warriors celebrated their fourth NBA championship in the last eight years. But at one time, Lin himself was the epicentre of the NBA universe. Seasoned fans will remember 'Linsanity' just over a decade ago, when the point guard became the talking point of the entire league with a run of magnificent displays for the New York Knicks. Lin emerged from the back of the rotation to capture the hearts of the city, as well as the attention of the global basketball audience with his performances. 22 compelling storylines, teams, coaches, players that will dominate the 2022 college football season
CBS Sports graphic Football -- actual on-the-field, snot-bubblin' football -- can't get here fast enough. Over the last three years, those of us on the front lines have been asked to become amateur epidemiologists (COVID-19, 2020), ambulance chasers (Texas-Oklahoma ditching the Big 12 for the SEC, 2021) and cartologists (mapping USC-UCLA travel routes to the East Coast, 2022). Someone make it reign … football again. Thank (Eli) Gold, we're only a month away; season No. 153 of college football is almost here. From this vantage point, the sport itself looks like a shining city on the hill because, frankly, we're just about tapped out on transfers; name, image and likeness; monster coaching contracts; and conference realignment. Unfortunately, they're as much a part of the game these days as Mike Leach's sense of, ahem, fashion. Somebody, somewhere, snap the ball and instead of snapping your fingers to get to a new conference. We'll be watching as Nick Saban most … [Read more...] about 22 compelling storylines, teams, coaches, players that will dominate the 2022 college football season

Premier League predictions: Jones Knows thinks Manchester United will fall to seventh straight away league defeat at Brentford
Manchester United will slip to a seventh straight away league defeat at Brentford, says Jones Knows who also sees Leicester nicking a point at Arsenal. Get Sky Sports Download the Sky Sports App Aston Villa vs Everton, Saturday 12.30pm For the sake of Everton's away form, there is a hope that Frank Lampard has taken a long look into the mirror over the summer. As a Premier League manager the way Lampard sets his teams up on the road has been staggeringly bad when you assess the defensive numbers. In 38 games as a boss at the top-level with a Chelsea side that went on to win the Champions League just six months after he left and at Everton, Lampard's teams' have shipped 73 goals on the road, working out at an average of 1.92 goals conceded every 90 minutes. That needs to change. And I'm willing to give Lampard, a highly intelligent man it must be added, the benefit of the doubt in that regard based on the signings of James Tarkowski and Conor Coady. … [Read more...] about Premier League predictions: Jones Knows thinks Manchester United will fall to seventh straight away league defeat at Brentford

NFL’s top 20 players not in the Hall of Fame: Torry Holt, Zach Thomas, Ken Anderson headline all-time list
Getty Images Patience would be an appropriate word to describe the 2022 Pro Football Hall of Fame induction class. Unlike most induction classes, there was not a single member of this year's class that got in on the first ballot. Cliff Branch, who was posthumously enshrined on Saturday, had been eligible for 30 years before his family received that long-awaited phone call. There are still a slew of eligible former players who are still waiting for their call to Canton, Ohio. Many deserving players have been passed over because they played for a small market team; other players were overshadowed by more celebrated teammates. For whatever the reason, there are numerous deserving players who may never receive a bronze bust and a gold jacket. With that in mind, we decided to put together a list of the 20 best NFL players who are not in the Hall of Fame. Don't be surprised if several of these players receive a bronze bust in Canton sometime in the near future.
