The Eagles are Super Bowl champions. Go crazy, Philadelphia. One of the most unforgettable Super Bowls in history saw a Patriots fourth-quarter comeback, but it was the Eagles who scored the decisive touchdowns, tacked on a field goal, and came up with a huge strip sack of Tom Brady to put the game out of reach. A late Hail Mary attempt by Brady came up just short, and the Eagles and their fans started celebrating the team's 41-33 win behind a masterful performance by Nick Foles and a huge fourth quarter by the Philadelphia defense. Picking the best college football team in each state entering the 2022 season
College football is one of the biggest and most popular sports in the country, though it's regional in its roots. Intra-state rivalries like the Iron Bowl, Egg Bowl and Old Oaken Bucket provide bragging rights for residents and fans for 365 days. Simply put, state pride has been the foundation of the sport for more than a century. Teams like Clemson and Georgia have dominated their in-state rivals recently, while the Michigan-Michigan State rivalry has been fairly even for the better part of a decade. "Talking season," as legendary coach Steve Spurrier famously named the period leading up to the season, is coming to a close. With that in mind, it's time to make our picks for the best team in each state. These picks are based on a wide variety of factors, including recent success, rivalry results and hope for the future. Alabama -- Alabama: The Crimson Tide boast the best record in the sport since 2008 and have won six national titles under coach Nick Saban. They have the … [Read more...] about Picking the best college football team in each state entering the 2022 season
AP Top 25: Florida Gators, FSU football both unranked in preseason poll for first time since 1974
The Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles football programs combined to make history Monday when the preseason Associated Press Top 25 poll came out . Neither team was ranked in the initial rankings, entering the fall, and it has been quite a long time since that happened. The last occurrence in which both teams were unranked to start the season happened nearly 50 years ago — 1974, according to the AP’s Ralph D. Russo. On the Florida end of things, Billy Napier takes over as head coach after coming over from Louisiana. The Gators could be on a fast-track rebuild in 2022 if dark-horse Heisman candidate Anthony Richardson puts it all together at quarterback in what should be his first full season as the starter. “Anthony — there’s no question that his confidence and comfort level with the verbiage, with the communication, I think he’s more concise and we’ve seen him be much more accurate,” Napier said . “The old adage, ‘We’re all on the same page,’ I think … [Read more...] about AP Top 25: Florida Gators, FSU football both unranked in preseason poll for first time since 1974
KPL 2018: Rajoo Bhatkal powers Mysuru Warrios to win
Set 147 to get after they had bowled out Shivamogga for 146, the home side, led by a blistering 99-run opening stand (69 balls) between the left-right pair of Arjun Hoysala (40, 28b, 3x4, 2x6) and Rajoo Bhatkal (59, 45b, 8x4), made it all look ridiculously easy to win by six wickets and as many as 16 balls to spare. Had their catching been better they wouldn't have had even that much to chase. The Mysuru fielders put down as many as four possible catches, at least a couple of them being straightforward ones. But then Shivamogga Lions simply refused to take advantage of those chances, with batsman after batsman getting out promptly after being dropped. KPL 2018: Mysuru Warriors pull off a thriller in high-scoring game
Set a massive 202 to get from their 20 overs after the host team, put into bat, had made 201 for 4, the Panthers all but pulled it off thanks to a 54-run, 7th wicket stand off just 20 balls between Nidish M and Akshay Ballal. With as many as 72 required in the last five overs it seemed all over for Belagavi. That's when Nidish (44 not out, 19b, 2x4, 4x6) and Akshay 21, 9b, 2x4, 1x6) took charge. Mysuru skipper and left-arm spinner J Suchith bore the brunt of it, going for 16 in the 16th over and then 25 more in his fourth and final over, the 18th of the innings. Three sixes from Nidish's blade and one from Akshay seemed to have settled the match in Belagavi's favour. The KPL 2018 Points Table Suchith had some other tricks up his sleeve. After a long mid-pitch consultation, Suchith turned to medium pacer Vyshak Vijaykumar to bowl the 19th over with 20 required by Belagavi. The big-built bowler responded by picking up Akshay first and Prashanth S later. He did bowl … [Read more...] about KPL 2018: Mysuru Warriors pull off a thriller in high-scoring game
LOOK: Tom Brady gets roasted on Twitter for his pregame Super Bowl outfit
MINNEAPOLIS -- They don't hand out an award for the best-dressed player at the Super Bowl, but they did, Tom Brady probably would have won it on Sunday. The Patriots quarterback showed up to U.S. Bank Stadium in a outfit that Gisele may or may not have picked out for him. One person thought he looked like the Terminator, which kind of makes sense because he destroys almost every team he plays on the football field. Ryan Jensen injury: Continued swelling in Buccaneers center’s knee delaying final diagnosis, Todd Bowles says
Getty Images Tampa Bay Buccaneers Pro Bowl center Ryan Jensen was carted off the field during a July 28 training camp practice with a knee injury. Jensen is still undergoing tests to determine the severity of the injury, but NFL Network initially reported that the fear is that he has suffered a season-ending injury. Weeks after the injury, the team is still unsure how severe it is, due to swelling of the area. On Sunday, head coach Todd Bowles said, "The swelling hasn't gone down and they're not exactly sure on the timing. He may or may not come back, if at all. They said in the next week — we should know something by this week. Bowles explained why he did not give much information on Jensen's status, saying, "Because we didn't have an answer, I didn't give a comment. I wasn't trying to be mean or anything. They just told me to wait until the swelling goes down because it could go one of two ways and we are just waiting for it." Bowles told reporters days after … [Read more...] about Ryan Jensen injury: Continued swelling in Buccaneers center’s knee delaying final diagnosis, Todd Bowles says
Cowboys signing Anthony Barr: Former Vikings Pro Bowl LB headed to Dallas on 1-year deal
