There’s something special about running around where you used to live. It gives you a totally different perspective on the places that helped shape your childhood. Most weekends we would go to place called Hatfield Forest for a walk with our mad border collie, Scott. This would mostly involve watching Scott chase after rabbits whilst my sister and I moaned that our legs ached until our parents grew tired enough of the whinging to take us to the café to get a portion of chips to keep us quiet. I didn’t realise it at the time but enjoying that family time cemented it as a place that I gravitate to every time I go back to see the old man. Andy Murray says he is "getting closer" to a playing return following hip surgery. The Scot has not played competitively since last year's Wimbledon, undergoing surgery at the turn of the year in a bid to cure his injury woes. With Wimbledon fast approaching, Murray says he has returned to training and playing in the grass court season remains his aim. Speaking in a video on the Guardian's website, he said: "It's been very slow, I've been out getting close to a year now which is a lot longer than I expected at the beginning. "I'm getting closer to playing again, I've started training a few days ago, hoping to make my comeback during the grass court season." Andy Murray's mother Judy had spoken yesterday of how her son has stepped up his rehabilitation in recent days. She told BBC Sport: "He's doing the rehabilitation. He's been back on the court in the last couple of days. The 31-year-old former world number one has not played since exiting the Wimbledon quarter-finals last July, but is aiming to return for the imminent grass court season. “It’s been very slow, I’ve been out getting close to a year now which is a lot longer than I expected at the beginning,” Murray said in a video posted by The Guardian. “I’m getting closer to playing again, I’ve started training a few days ago, hoping to make my comeback during the grass court season.” Murray has twice won Wimbledon, in 2013 and 2016, and also won the 2012 US Open. BUXTON Hitmen lost out twice to local rivals Stoke over the weekend to leave them still looking for their first points of the season. On Sunday they were edged out 48-41 in the National Trophy at Hi-Edge Raceway, having been beaten 56-34 at Loomer Road the previous day.Ben Wilson, who top-scored for the Hitmen with 14 points on Sunday, said: “We are getting closer to getting our first points of the season.“I’m disappointed today that we have lost.“I’m happy with my own performance.
