“It’s Completely…”: Suryakumar Yadav On Pitch After Hardik Pandya’s ‘Shocker’ Remark | Cricket News

January 31, 2023 by sports.ndtv.com Leave a Comment

India's T20 vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav on Tuesday played down the Ekana Stadium pitch controversy, saying the wicket doesn't matter a lot and they are "fine" with any type of surfaces. India skipper Hardik Pandya had termed the Ekana pitch a "shocker" after a tense 100-run chase, which was achieved in the penultimate delivery of the match. The curator was blamed for the fiasco and had been sacked. "We (Hardik and I) had a chat later on, and it was like, whatever we got in future we will go with it. It's completely fine," Surya said on the eve of the series-decider at Motera. "It doesn't matter what soil you play on. These are the things which aren't in your control. We did what we had in our control, we had to adapt, apply on that ground and move on with the situation. But it was an exciting game. "Any game, ODI or T20I, low or high scoring, if there's competition in the game, wickets, I don't think, matter a lot. You go out there, have a challenge, accept it and move … [Read more...] about “It’s Completely…”: Suryakumar Yadav On Pitch After Hardik Pandya’s ‘Shocker’ Remark | Cricket News

Team India levelled the three-match series 1-1 against New Zealand after a six-wicket win in a low-scoring second T20I on Sunday in Lucknow. Asked to bowl first, Team India accepted the challenge with opened arms arms and restricted the visitors for 99/8 in 20 overs. However, the hosts also faced a similar challenge during the chase and lost their openers in a quick succession. Later, Suryakumar Yadav anchored the innings and took Team India across the line with one ball to spare. Many fans, experts, and even India skipper Hardik Pandya lashed out at the pitch curator of the Ekana Cricket Stadium for coming up with such a "shocker" pitch that resulted in only 200 runs getting scored in 39.5 overs. However, former India batter Gautam Gambhir blasted India openers, especially Ishan Kishan for his inability to rotate the strike. Batters of both teams struggled during the second T20I and the audience did not get to see even a single six during the entire match. “Yet To Learn…”: Wasim Jaffer Explains Why Young India Star Struggles In T20 Cricket | Cricket News

February 1, 2023 by sports.ndtv.com Leave a Comment

Former India batter Wasim Jaffer has backed veteran spinner Yuzvendra Chahal to retain his place in the playing for the third and final T20I against New Zealand. After registering a narrow win in the second T20I, the hosts now eye a series win, having already sweeped the ODIs 3-0 against the Kiwis. On being asked if young speedster Umran Malik should replace Chahal in the playing XI, Jaffer suggested that the pacer is yet to learn the traits in order to succeed in the format. "It would be better to have Yuzvendra Chahal as New Zealand struggle against spinners and if there is a wrist-spinner, India must utilize it. As I mentioned previously, Umran Malik struggles in T20 cricket. He is yet to learn the variations needed to succeed in this format. So, in that way, Chahal is a better option," Jaffer said on ESPNcricinfo. Jaffer, however, did suggest a change in the playing XI. Considering recent form, he feels that the team management should rope in Prithvi Shaw for the … [Read more...] about “Yet To Learn…”: Wasim Jaffer Explains Why Young India Star Struggles In T20 Cricket | Cricket News

Suryakumar Yadav Indirectly Credits MS Dhoni For “Calm Attitude” On Challenging Tracks. Watch | Cricket News

February 1, 2023 by sports.ndtv.com Leave a Comment

Suryakumar Yadav is the batting sensation of the cricketing world at the moment. He is the top batter in the list of ICC T20I batting rankings. What makes him a special batter is the combination of array of shots and a superb confidence that he carries with himself, irrespective of the situation. India's second T20I of the ongoing three-match series against New Zealand in Lucknow saw a similar performance from the star player. On the statistical front, Suryakumar Yadav scored only 26 not out off 31 balls, but considering the game situation, it was nothing short than a match-defining knock. The trio of Yuzvendra Chahal , Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav impressed on a helping surface to limit a self-destructing New Zealand to 99 for eight, their lowest total against India in the shortest format. It should have been a straight-forward run chase but the top-order comprising Ishan Kishan (19 off 32), Shubman Gill (11 off 9) and Rahul Tripathi (13 off 18) had a tough … [Read more...] about Suryakumar Yadav Indirectly Credits MS Dhoni For “Calm Attitude” On Challenging Tracks. “Pakistan Has Always Given India Tough Time,” Ex Star On Teams’ World Cup Chances | Cricket News

The ODI World Cup, to be played later this year in India, will be an acid test for the Rohit Sharma -led Indian cricket team. The side has not won an ICC title since 2013 and at home it will ve primed to lift the title. On the other hand, Pakistan performance will also be closely watched. The Babar Azam -led side has done consistently well in the last two editions of the T20 World Cup. However, ODIs are a different ball game but former Pakistan pacer Aaqib Javed feels that the team is up for the challenge. "Pakistan has always given India a tough time. When the Pakistan team goes to India for the World Cup, it will not face any problem in playing on the pitches there," Javed was quoted as saying by Geo.tv . Javed felt that Pakistan have a better bowling line-up than India. "Although recently India scored a lot of runs against New Zealand in the ODI series. But the bowling of Pakistan is not the bowling of New Zealand, so the Indian batsmen scored four hundred runs," he … [Read more...] about “Pakistan Has Always Given India Tough Time,” Ex Star On Teams’ World Cup Chances | Cricket News

“He Should Request Team Management To…”: Former Selector’s Advice To Yuzvendra Chahal | Cricket News

February 1, 2023 by sports.ndtv.com Leave a Comment

India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal became India's leading wicket-taker during the second T20I against New Zealand on Sunday. Chahal scalped one wicket in the match and took his total tally to 91 and surpassed Bhuvneshwar Kumar with 90 wickets. However, the performance of the veteran spinner has not been up to the mark for quite some time. Chahal has scalped only four wickets in three T20Is he played this year. Apart from this, he could only achieve three dismissals in three ODIs. As the Rohit Sharma -led side is gearing up for the upcoming ODI World Cup, former India selector Sunil Joshi stated that the 32-year-old spinner should play domestic cricket to regain his form. “Over a period any bowler will go through that phase. Probably Chahal is in that phase. Someone like Chahal, who is not able to get game time in the middle, probably he should request the team management to go and play domestic cricket. Match time is very important for him to get back into form. That should be … [Read more...] about “He Should Request Team Management To…”: Former Selector’s Advice To Yuzvendra Chahal | Cricket News
