Dhaka: Mar 29, 2014 For the second time in less than a year, Mahendra Singh Dhoni ‘s Indian team is making up for the sins of its administrators with a flawless display at the ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh . Ignoring the upheaval back home, India cruised into the semi-finals for the first time since triumphing in the 2007 inaugural event with three emphatic wins in Group 2 of the Super-10s. The players seemed unaffected by the Supreme Court’s decision to replace the Board of Control for Cricket in India ‘s (BCCI) controversial chief N. Srinivasan with batting legend Sunil Gavaskar for the duration of the Indian Premier League (IPL), in the wake of a spot-fixing scandal. A court-appointed panel had concluded that Srinivasan’s son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan , the team principal of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), could be guilty of illegal betting on IPL games. The franchise is owned by Srinivasan’s Chennai-based business house India Cements, and … [Read more...] about ICC World T20 2014: MS Dhoni ignores match-fixing fiasco; leads India to semi-finals

Netherlands vs New Zealand ICC World T20 2014 Group 1 Preview: Kiwis look to regain lost ground
By Bharath Ramaraj Mar 28, 2014 New Zealand meet Netherlands in a crucial Group 1 encounter at Chittagong in ICC World T20 2014 . In a see-saw battle against South Africa , New Zealand lost their last game. On the other end of the spectrum, Netherlands too suffered the same fate against South Africa in a close encounter that went all the way. On paper, New Zealand do have a fine side to come out of the contest with an easy win. The likes of Martin Guptill, Kane Williamson , Ross Taylor and Brendon McCullum provide them with solidarity and firepower. They also have a slew of all-rounders to up the ante when needed. However, in the game against South Africa, they only fired in fits and starts. Even their bowlers, on occasions, struggled to bowl with good control. Tim Southee in particular, struggled with his rhythm. The steady seamer, Kyle Mills and bowling all-rounder, Nathan McCullum though, bowled fine spells. New Zealand need to up their game … [Read more...] about Netherlands vs New Zealand ICC World T20 2014 Group 1 Preview: Kiwis look to regain lost ground

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin made his way back into India's T20I squad for the ongoing five-match series against West Indies. He has not disappointed as he has been able to stay economical and not leak runs. He has managed to contain the run flow in the middle phase of the game, while also taking crucial wickets. Now, former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar has talked about how Ashwin has mastered the art of being economical in the shortest format of the game. "Who are his competitors now? You've got Chahal who's confirmed for spinner on current form. Then you've got Axar Patel , you've got Jadeja who could do a bit of bowling. Hooda bowled one over in the last game, then you've got Kuldeep Yadav , you've got Ravichandran Ashwin. I think Ashwin's selection on this tour was an excellent one. In the last couple of years in the Indian T20 league, Ashwin has started making an impact. I like Ashwin when he's with somebody like Chahal. So, the onus is not on Ashwin to change the … [Read more...] about “Mastered Art Of Being Economical In T20 Cricket”: Ex-India Batter On Ravichandran Ashwin | Cricket News
