2022 FIFA World Cup: Qatar match set to be moved a day earlier, tournament to kick off on November 20
Getty Images The wait to begin the World Cup could be shorter than expected, at least by a day. Qatar's match could be moved forward to November 20 from it's original Nov. 21 slot. Historically, the host country has been involved in the opening match of the world cup but Qatar are scheduled to kick off against Ecuador in the third match on Nov. 21. The hosts reportedly wanted a night match in order to have an accompanying fireworks display and they could now face Ecuador on November 20 before the opening ceremony of the World Cup to kick things off. Ecuador's FA are on board with the shift, despite it only giving them six days instead of seven to get their squad together and situated in Qatar after the European leagues break for the World Cup. There is still the looming appeal from Chile to have Ecuador removed from the World Cup after losing their case with FIFA. Rohit Sharma’s 10-Year Old Tweet On Suryakumar Yadav Goes Viral After India Batter Smashes Ton vs England In 3rd T20I
India vs England, 3rd T20I, Nottingham: Suryakumar Yadav was in his element in the third and final T20I against England at Trent Bridge as the India batter smashed a brilliant hundred to keep India in the hunt of chasing down a mammoth target of 215 set by the hosts. Although India felt short by 17 runs, Suryakumar showed why he merits a regular spot in the middle-order of the India team and has pretty much cemented his place for the T20 World Cup to be played later in the year in Australia. Surya’s 117 came off 55 balls as the rest of the batters failed to get going on a batting friendly wicket at Trent Bridge. India captain Rohit Sharma was mighty pleased with the 31-year-old’s knock and said that he has grwon from strength to strength. “We are proud of the fight. Surya was magnificent to watch. I have been watching him for a while now. Loves this format, has wide range of shots. Asia Cup 2022: Why These 4 Big Players Were Dropped From The India Squad
But even in that, India have omitted a few frontline players from their Asia Cup 2022 squad. Here we are looking closer at India squad for Asia Cup 2022 and find out why these 4 players have been dropped. 1 Mohammed Shami Shami is one of the senior most cricketer in Indian establishment. He has played 17 T20I and has taken 18 wickets and had a good season for IPL 2022 champions Gujarat Titans. But he has last played a T20I match for India was against Namibia in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The emergence of Arshdeep Singh and the form rediscovery of Bhuvneshwar Kumar seemed to have reduced his role in the T20I set up and in all likelihood Shami could be seen only on Test and ODIs hereafter. 2 Ishan Kishan Ishan made a good beginning to the T20I season in the home series against South Africa scoring 76, 34 and 54 with an 89 against Sri Lanka to boot with. But since then the left-hander blew hot and blew cold in the last 7 T20Is against Ireland, England … [Read more...] about Asia Cup 2022: Why These 4 Big Players Were Dropped From The India Squad
Asia Cup 2022: Winners List from 1984 to 2022, Runners-Up, Host Countries
The marquee match of the Asia Cup 2022 will start a day late on August 28 between India and Pakistan. This will be the 15th edition of the Asia Cup with India winning the most titles — 7. India are also the defending champions of the tournament, having beaten Bangladesh in the final in the UAE in 2018. In fact, Asia Cup is a rather curious entity. It does not have any regular place in the calendar or consistent host especially since its mid-90s editions. For example, the last edition of the Asia Cup, as it was aforementioned, held in 2018. But since then the tournament find it tough to find a host or date. Of course, two years — 2020 and 2021 — had lost to the Covid-19 pandemic. But Pakistan was the original host of the Asia Cup in 2020 and it was their turn too. However, the geo political circumstances ensured that India will not tour Pakistan for a cricket tournament as the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) forced to shift the event to Sri Lanka. India vs Pakistan … [Read more...] about Asia Cup 2022: Winners List from 1984 to 2022, Runners-Up, Host Countries
Wouldn’t be surprised if we see Hardik Pandya leading India: Scott Styris
Pandya made a statement, as he led new IPL franchise Gujarat Titans to the coveted crown in their maiden season. Not only did Pandya show his leadership skills, the Indian cricketer contributed with both bat and ball. Pandya carried his form into international cricket, and having led the side with conviction in the absence of Rohit Sharma, many believe Pandya can be considered as an Indian captain in the future. One of those voices is that of former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris. Speaking exclusively on Sports18’s daily sports news show 'Sports Over The Top’, former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris spoke about Hardik Pandya taking up the leadership role in future. “I think it's an intriguing discussion because again, six months ago, I don't think it's something we all thought would even be talked about, but Hardik Pandya has made every poster winner, as Saba says. And you know, you see it a lot in football, where players of character and personality are often given … [Read more...] about Wouldn’t be surprised if we see Hardik Pandya leading India: Scott Styris

Dinesh Karthik 's resurgence as a dependable T20 player has been nothing short of being inspirational. With consistent performances for his IPL franchise and the Indian cricket team, the veteran player is now a front-runner to be selected for the T20 World Cup. Karthik features prominently in India's 15-member Asia Cup squad. His performance as a backup wicketkeeper and a finisher will be closely watched in the days ahead. However, former Indian cricket team captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth, while lauding Karthik's recent performances, has said the "actual finishers" in the side are someone else. "What do you mean by a finisher? In my book, the finisher is the guy who can take the batting from the 8th or 12th over and go on till the 20th over, and win the match for India. He starts from the 8th or the 6th over, but where is the good finisher? KL Rahul is a good finisher, Rohit Sharma is a good finisher. They go opening by the way," Srikkanth said on Star Sports.
