India vs West Indies, 5th T20I: Shreyas Iyer, Spinners Star As India Thrash West Indies By 88 Runs | Cricket News

August 7, 2022 by sports.ndtv.com Leave a Comment

Shreyas Iyer roared back to form with a stroke-filled 64 while the spinners picked up all the 10 wickets as India recorded yet another one-sided 88-run victory over West Indies to wrap up the five-match T20 International series by a comprehensive 4-1 margin here. It was Iyer's half-century and useful contributions from Deepak Hooda (38 off 25 balls) and stand-in skipper Hardik Pandya's (28 off 16 balls) cameo that propelled India to 188 for 7 in 20 overs after being put in to bat. Then, Pandya handed the new ball to Axar Patel (3-1-15-3), who quickly removed makeshift opener Jason Holder (0), Shamarah Brooks (13) and Devon Thomas (10) with three arm balls on a track where balls stopped and gripped off the surface. West Indies were all out for 100 runs inside 16 overs as one of the most lopsided T20I bilateral series came to an end even though India won't be complaining having ticked most of the boxes. Once Kuldeep Yadav (4-1-12-3) caught rival skipper Nicholas Pooran (3) … [Read more...] about India vs West Indies, 5th T20I: Shreyas Iyer, Spinners Star As India Thrash West Indies By 88 Runs | Cricket News

ENG vs IND: Rishabh Pant Breaks 69-Year Old & 72-Year-Old Record In Same Test Leaving Stalwarts Like Dhoni Behind

July 5, 2022 by www.cricketcountry.com Leave a Comment

England vs India, Edgbaston Test: India wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant is on a roll at the moment and etched his name once again in the books of history in the second innings of the fifth Test between England and India at Edgbaston. Pant scored a brilliant counter-attacking 146 in the first innings of the Test that took India out of troubled waters and followed it up with a fifty in the second innings (57) taking his total tally of runs in the Test match to 203. This is the most runs scored by an Indian wicket-keeper in a single Test match outside Asia. By doing so, the 24-year-old went past Vijay Manjrekar , who had scored 161 runs against West Indies way back in 1953. That is 69 years earlier . With another scintillating knock in the second innings, Pant also went past West Indies wicketkeeper Clyde Walcott , who held the distinction of scoring the most runs 182 (14+168*) in 1950 as a wicket-keeper from a visiting team in a Test in England. India athlete Tejaswin Shankar made the country proud after he grabbed the bronze medal in the men's high jump final with the mark of 2.22m at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham on Wednesday. Shankar was tied with former world and CWG champion Donald Thomas from the Bahamas, but the Indian athlete ended up winning the nation's first athletics medal in the men's high jump event, as he made lesser fouls. The national record holder cleared 2.22m to finish third on countback. Donald Thomas of Bahamas and England's Joel Clarke-Khan also cleared 2.22m but they needed more than one attempt to do it while Shankar was successful in single try. 1st track and field medal this CWG for India ???????? #TejaswinShankar #HighJump #CommonwealthGames pic.twitter.com/ZQC4Rsu9I6 — Soug (@sbg1936) August 3, 2022 The 23-year-old Shankar could not soar over 2.25m in two attempts. The Indians have been unbeaten in the tournament so far, registering three wins and a draw. South Africa, on the other hand, have recorded two victories and a draw and a loss each. Going by current form and world stature, the world no.5 Indians will start as overwhelming favourites against world no.13 South Africa. CWG 2022: Sreeshankar scripts history with India’s first medal in men’s long jump in the Commonwealth Games

August 5, 2022 by www.mykhel.com Leave a Comment

While India have a bronze and a silver medallist in the women’s long jump event in CWG, 23-year-old Sreeshankar’s effort saw the Indian men clinch their first-ever CWG medal in the men’s long jump event. The win took India’s medal tally to 19, including five gold medals, seven silver medals and seven bronze medals. India had two athletes in the fray in the men’s long jump final - M Sreeshankar and Muhammed Anees Yahiya. Both got off to a slow start. Sreeshankar started off with an effort of 7.60m, followed by two consecutive efforts of 7.84m. The effort of 7.84metres saw Sreeshankar qualify for the next round. Following the first three rounds, only the top eight qualify and fight it out for the medals. M Sreeshankar, placed sixth and Anees, placed eighth qualified for the next three attempts. On his fourth attempt Sreeshankar registered a foul as he overstepped. The jump could have put him in the top three, but the Indian athlete missed it by a whisker. But Sreeshankar … [Read more...] about CWG 2022: Sreeshankar scripts history with India’s first medal in men’s long jump in the Commonwealth Games

Asia Cup 2022: India Squad (Predicted), Best Possible Playing 11 — Crucial outing for Virat Kohli

August 5, 2022 by www.mykhel.com Leave a Comment

The Asia Cup 2022 will give India a chance to zero in on several slots in the 15-member squad. Some positions have already been claimed such as by captain Rohit Sharma, all-rounder’s slot by Hardik Pandya, and two slots in the middle-order by Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant, who will also certainly be India’s No 1 choice for the wicketkeeper batsman. Virat Kohli’s outings will be closely monitored. Even though Kohli still boasts of a wonderful T20I stats with him averaging over 50 and a good records in Australia, Kohli has not been among runs of late. His last 100 in International cricket came in December 2019 and since then more than three years have been lapsed without a three-figure mark. There is no denying of the fact that Kohli has made some fifties in T20I format along with other segments too but it cannot also be denied that big runs have dried up from his willow. While any international batsman can go through this trough like recently Joe Root, Kane Williamson … [Read more...] about Asia Cup 2022: India Squad (Predicted), Best Possible Playing 11 — Crucial outing for Virat Kohli
