Stokes announced on Monday that Tuesday's clash against South Africa, which ended in a 62-run defeat for England, would be his last in 50-over internationals as he looks to prolong his career in other formats. The England Test captain was unable to leave his mark on his final outing, finishing with 0-44 in his five overs with the ball and scoring just five with the bat. Yet Stokes still finishes as one of just three players to score 2,500 or more runs and take 50-plus wickets in men's ODIs for England (2,924 runs, 74 wickets), alongside Paul Collingwood and Andrew Flintoff. Those numbers are impressive but his World Cup-winning unbeaten 84 in the 50-over final against New Zealand before scoring eight in the Super Over will remain his crowning moment in the format. Buttler, who batted alongside Stokes in that Super Over, was quick to recall his World Cup heroics as the white-ball captain thanked his team-mate for his relentless efforts on a consistent basis. Board president Sourav Ganguly had said that the BCCI will do all it can to ensure that the home series against England remains in the country and domestic tournaments kick off at some point despite the fluid COVID-19 situation. England vs India, Edgbaston: India batter Shreyas Iyer found himself at the receiving end on Twitter as the 27-year-old once again succumbed to the short ball in the second innings of the fifth Test between England and India played at Edgbaston . Iyer has had his issues with the short ball and his weakness in playing anything above his waist is an open secret in the world of cricket. Matty Potts was the beneficiary here as James Anderson took a simple catch at mid-wicket. The trap was set by England captain Ben Stokes and Iyer obliged by going for the pull shot only to find the man stationed there, especially for that kind of a shot. Fell into the trap ? Will KL Rahul be able to reclaim his spot in India’s limited-overs format? Scott Styris has this to say
The team management gave opportunities to several young talented players waiting on the bench in Rahul's absence and almost everyone did well. Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Ishan Kishan, and Sanju Samson were all looked at and they didn't disappoint. Looking at the performances of the players who were given an opportunity in the absence of Rahul, former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris believes those who came in as a replacement to the senior cricketer have done well, putting Rahul's spot in jeopardy. Team India hasn't missed the services of the Karnataka batter one bit and Styris believes it will not be easy for the right-handed batter to fit into the team's scheme of things as he has missed a lot of cricket in recent times. Scott Styris explains why Suryakumar Yadav makes the job of opposition captain extremely tough "It's a different mindset for players because they don't want to be out and they don't want to be giving other … [Read more...] about Will KL Rahul be able to reclaim his spot in India’s limited-overs format? England vs India, Edgbaston Test: India wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant is on a roll at the moment and etched his name once again in the books of history in the second innings of the fifth Test between England and India at Edgbaston. “Every Time In Big Finals…”: Harmanpreet Kaur After CWG Final Loss vs Australia | Commonwealth Games News
Heartbroken after a gold medal slipped out of their hands, India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur harped on the need to stop repeating same mistakes in 'title clashes', saying the "mental block" has to be broken, going forward. Indian team came to close winning coveted gold on women cricket's CWG debut but fell short by nine runs after being in a dominant position against mighty Australia. It was deja vu for Harmanpreet and Co. who had suffered a similar inexplicable batting collapse during the T20 World Cup finals defeat against Australia in 2020 and the 2017 ODI World Cup final in England. "Every time in big finals, we make the same mistakes again and again (with the bat), that is something we have to improve," Harmanpreet said after the match on Sunday. "We don't do these mistakes in the league phase or in bilateral. That is blocking our mind somewhere," the skipper added. With 50 needed off the last six overs with eight wickets in hand, India seemed to be on course to title … [Read more...] about “Every Time In Big Finals…”: Harmanpreet Kaur After CWG Final Loss vs Australia | Commonwealth Games News

The All India Selection Committee is set to select India’s squad on Monday, but it’s not clear if the announcement will be made on the same day. Confirming Bumrah’s unavailability a senior BCCI official told PTI on the condition of anonymity, “Jasprit Bumrah has a back injury and will not play in the Asia Cup. He is our main bowler and we would like him to be back in action before T20 World Cup. WE can't risk him in Asia Cup and the injury could aggravate." Bumrah was last seen in action during India’s away ODI series against England. The senior bowler was then rested from the rubber against West Indies and also India’s upcoming one against Zimbabwe.
