Jonny Bairstow Replies To Virat Kohli Sledging With Scintillating Century | Cricket News
England star Jonny Bairstow had started slow on Day 2 of the rescheduled 5th Test against India as the hosts went to Stumps at 84/5. On Day 3 too, he started cautiously, as Mohammed Shami zipped the ball around. This prompted Virat Kohli to have a go at him, with the two seen engaging in a feisty exchange. But Kohli's sledging seemed to spur Bairstow on more, as he switched gears and took the attack to the Indian bowlers and went on to score his third Test century in as many matches. Carrying on his form from the series against New Zealand, when he scored tons in the last two Tests, Bairstow brought up his century off just 119 deliveries. The swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batter hit 14 boundaries and two sixes as he helped take England to a score of 284, even as India took a 132-run first-innings lead. He was eventually dismissed by Shami, who had troubled him in the morning session, and rather poetically, it was Kohli who took the catch at first slip. “A Little Faster Than Southee, Eh”: Virat Kohli’s Savage Sledge Against England Star. Watch | Cricket News
Virat Kohli knows how to get under the skin of the opposition and he tries his best to disturb the concentration of the batters. So it was no surprise that Kohli decided to have a go at Jonny Bairstow as he came out to bat on Day 2 of the ongoing Edgbaston Test. The England batter has been the best performer for the side this summer and he scored centuries against New Zealand at Trent Bridge and Headingley. As Bairstow tried to get going in his innings, Kohli was heard on the stump mic, taking a dig at the England batter. With Bairstow at the crease on Day 2, Kohli was heard on stump mic, saying: "A little bit faster than Southee, eh?" as Jasprit Bumrah , Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj put pressure on the England batting lineup. pic.twitter.com/CZELBTGkqk — Guess Karo (@KuchNahiUkhada) July 3, 2022 The sledging contest between Bairstow and Kohli was carried foward on the ongoing Day 3 of the Edgbaston Test. ENG vs IND, 5th Test: Virender Sehwag Trolls Virat Kohli As Jonny Bairstow Goes Berserk After Sledging Match | Cricket News
Jonny Bairstow led England's revival on Day 3 after the Indian bowlers had taken over the proceedings of the ongoing fifth Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham. After starting cautiously on Day 2, Bairstow got into his groove after England had resumed resumed play from their overnight score of 84 for five on Day 3. Virat Kohli was seen sledging Bairstow and the two were involved in a heated exchange, and this seemed to stir something in the England batter, as he teed off soon after, going on to bring up his third consecutive century off just 119 deliveries. Taking to Twitter, former India batter Virender Sehwag said that while Bairstow was batting like Chesteshwar Pujara early in the morning session, Kohli's sledging got the England batter all fired up, and he ended up playing like Rishabh Pant , who had scored a brilliant 111-ball 146 on Day 1. Harshal Patel Hits Fifty As India Beat Northamptonshire By 10 Runs In Tour Match | Cricket News
India will enter the upcoming limited overs series against England on a positive note, having beaten Northamptonshire by 10 runs after an impressive display by the bowlers in their second warm-up match on Sunday. India had earlier defeated Derbyshire by seven wickets. After Harshal Patel lifted India from a precarious position to 149 for eight with a 36-ball 54, the visiting bowlers fired in unison to bowl out the county side for 139 with three balls to spare. Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal picked up two wickets apiece as Northamptonshire failed to overcome India's total. Earlier, asked to bat first, India were off to a disastrous start losing Sanju Samson in the very first delivery of the match, the successful bowler being skipper Joshua Cobb. One-down bat Rahul Tripathi, too, did not last long but more trouble awaited India as pacer Brandon Glover sent back Suryakumar Yadav to leave the visitors tottering at 8/3 in the third over. Glover two … [Read more...] about Harshal Patel Hits Fifty As India Beat Northamptonshire By 10 Runs In Tour Match | Cricket News
ENG vs IND 5th Test, Day 3: Cheteshwar Pujara Fifty Puts India In Commanding Position | Cricket News
India's famed pace bowling unit for the umpteenth time put its team in pole position, bowling out England for 284 before the hosts just about managed to put a foot in the door by getting the top-order cheaply in an engrossing third day's play in the fifth Test. At stumps, India were 125 for 3 in their second innings with Cheteshwar Pujara (50 batting, 139 balls) displaying his gutsy avatar with a half-century, battling it out in the company of the flamboyant Rishabh Pant (30 batting, 46 balls). The overall lead stood at 257 runs. However, the dismissals of Shubman Gill (4), Hanuma Vihari (11) and Virat Kohli (20) would make the visitors uncomfortable going into the final day. Kohli, as usual, got the best delivery of the entire third day's play when rival skipper Ben Stokes got one to rear up off length and no batter would have survived such a delivery with less than split second of reaction time. Kohli, who was standing a good two feet outside the batting crease, … [Read more...] about ENG vs IND 5th Test, Day 3: Cheteshwar Pujara Fifty Puts India In Commanding Position | Cricket News

Roger Federer said Sunday he hopes to play Wimbledon "one more time" despite being sidelined for a year with a knee injury. "I hope I can come back one more time. I've missed it here," said the eight-time champion as he attended a special ceremony to mark the 100th anniversary of Centre Court. The 40-year-old winner of 20 Grand Slam titles has been out of action since a quarter-final loss at the tournament in 2021 before undergoing another bout of knee surgery. He plans to return to action at the Laver Cup in London in September and then take part in his home tournament at Basel. "I knew walking out here last year, it was going to be a tough year ahead," said Federer, who received a standing ovation when he entered the court. "I maybe didn't think it was going to take this long to come back -- the knee has been rough on me." Federer, dressed in a dark suit, was one of a host of Wimbledon champions at the ceremony that preceded the programme of matches on middle Sunday, … [Read more...] about Roger Federer Says He Hopes To Play Wimbledon “One More Time” | Tennis News
