Twist: Tom Thibodeau jealous of the Spurs giving players heavy preseason workloads
Tom Thibodeau is known for riding players hard during the regular season, playing the top Bulls heavy minutes. Gregg Popovich has the exact opposite reputation. His Spurs starters frequently get full nights off and rest plenty when they do play. The coaches have reversed roles this preseason. In two overseas games, Tim Duncan has played 34.0 minutes per game and Tony Parker 35.5. Duncan hasn’t received so many minutes per game in any of the last six seasons. For Parker, so many minutes would represent a career high. On the other hand, Joakim Noah and Mike Dunleavy have each sat one of the Bulls’ preseason game. Noah is averaging just 19.0 minutes in his two games, and Derrick Rose has played 16.7 minutes per game. LeBron and Lakers dealing with ‘tough stretch’ as Jazz set NBA record
The Jazz hit 22 three-pointers as they shot 46 per cent from deep in a resounding 114-89 triumph on Wednesday (February 24), in the process improving to 26-5 for the season. While Utah lead the way in the Western Conference, the Lakers are suffering a dip that has coincided with the absences of key duo Anthony Davis and Dennis Schroder through injury. James acknowledged it is a "tough stretch" for the reigning champions, though even with the poor recent run they still boast a 22-11 record. "It's challenging for all of us, especially some of our young guys and some of our guys who haven't been in the position before where they need to do a little bit more than what they are asked to in a normal situation," James said. "Everyone is speaking about AD [Davis], and that's obviously a big hit, but we also haven't had Dennis down this stretch too. He's a big piece of our puzzle as well. "But it's always about staying confident, continuing to give my team-mates the courage and … [Read more...] about LeBron and Lakers dealing with ‘tough stretch’ as Jazz set NBA record
Brett Veach: Chiefs can fix OL with mix of in-house options and new talent
Getty Images The Chiefs ended their season with a trip to the Super Bowl for the second straight year, but their matchup with Tampa didn’t go as well as last year’s game against the 49ers. Kansas City got thumped 31-9 as the Buccaneers pass rush kept Patrick Mahomes and the offense from generating the kind of production the team has thrived on for the last few years. The Chiefs fielded a patchwork offensive line for that game due to injuries and guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif’s decision to opt out and General Manager Brett Veach discussed his approach to putting together a better unit at a Monday press conference. “I think it will be a combination of what we have in house and blending that with some new talent ,” Veach said, via Matt McMullen of the team’s website. Veach said he likes what he’s seen of this year’s draft prospects on the offensive line, which is one way to add new talent to a group that includes four impending free agents in Kelechi Osemele , Austin … [Read more...] about Brett Veach: Chiefs can fix OL with mix of in-house options and new talent
