NHL Trade Deadline Primer: Taylor Hall trade would benefit everybody

· March 19, 2021 ·

The NHL Trade Deadline is Monday, April 12 at 3 p.m. ET. As we get closer to the deadline we will take a look at some individual players who could be moved by then. We start today with Buffalo Sabres forward Taylor Hall . Taylor Hall’s decision to sign a one-year contract with the Sabres in free agency was the biggest shock of the NHL offseason. Here is a star player that had spent almost all of his career playing on bad teams, in his first trip to the open market, reportedly turning down long-term deals to sign with a franchise that had not made the playoffs in nearly a decade and had to play in a loaded division full of potential Stanley Cup contenders. It was a big gamble all around. The Sabres were gambling that Hall, along with Eric Staal , could help improve their forward depth enough to get back in the playoffs. Hall was presumably gambling that a year next to Jack Eichel could help him boost his value for another run at free agency in a better spending … [Read more...] about NHL Trade Deadline Primer: Taylor Hall trade would benefit everybody

Brad Brownell previews Clemson vs. Rutgers in NCAA Tournament opening round

· March 17, 2021 ·

On Wednesday, Clemson head coach Brad Brownell virtually met the media from Indianapolis to preview seventh-seeded Clemson's game vs. tenth-seeded Rutgers in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Clemson plays Rutgers at 9:20 p.m. on truTV. The primary takeaways from Brownell's availability are below. — Team arrived in Indy on Monday. Said the team passed both required COVID-19 tests (taken within 12 hours) in order to play on Friday. Said life/game prep in the bubble is different, but he appreciates what the NCAA is doing in trying to keep everybody safe. — On the key to the game on Friday: "Shore up some things defensively to make sure we're in the right spots to guard them. We have to be strong with the ball offensively, I think (Rutgers) is physical. We have be more sound in not turning it over. I think the ability to make shots is a big key. We are who we are and they are who they are, nothing drastically differently. “I mean these guys have beaten some of … [Read more...] about Brad Brownell previews Clemson vs. Rutgers in NCAA Tournament opening round

Alvin Kamara: ‘There’s really more than what meets the eye’ with NASCAR

· February 20, 2021 ·

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara had always known about NASCAR. But as the sport soldiered through its 2020 season during the coronavirus pandemic, he decided to give it a proper look. “I really sat down and was like, ‘Alright, let me see what’s really going on, let me watch it and give it a chance – try to really understand it,'” the four-time Pro Bowler told reporters on Friday. “I’m really listening to what they’re talking about – and I realized that there’s really more than what meets the eye when it comes to NASCAR.” From there, Kamara secured an invite to attend last June’s race at Homestead-Miami Speedway – partly to support Bubba Wallace in the wake of NASCAR’s ban of the Confederate flag, and partly to discover the sport as a whole. Now, over eight months later, he’s about to become more than just a fan. His juice bar chain, “The Big Squeezy,” is sponsoring the No. 6 JD Motorsports Chevrolet for rookie driver Ryan Vargas in Saturday’s Xfinity Series … [Read more...] about Alvin Kamara: ‘There’s really more than what meets the eye’ with NASCAR

Top Performers: Pylon 7v7 Indianapolis

· March 27, 2021 ·

WESTFIELD, Ind. - Not all the excitement in the Hoosier State capital this weekend was reserved for March Madness. There was a lot of juice in the suburbs Saturday with the Pylon 7v7 event in town. 247Sports was on-hand too and takes you inside the event. Alpha Dog Grosse Point (Mich.) South Top247 cornerback Will Johnson was terrific on both sides of the ball in leading one of the Maximum Exposure teams out of the Sound Mind Sound Body Foundation in Detroit to a 3-0 record. The 247Sports Composite five-star recruit was flawless in coverage, giving up absolutely nothing. Long, rangy and instinctive, the few times Johnson was challenged he got his hands on the football for an incompletion. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Johnson was one of the more dominant receivers inside Grand Park as well. A couple times he got behind the defense for a deep score. Throw it up to him and he tracks it well and wins with his ball skills and length. Johnson was also a smooth route runner who has … [Read more...] about Top Performers: Pylon 7v7 Indianapolis
