Getty Images The Connecticut Sun are chasing the franchise's first WNBA championship and that journey begins with a best-of-three first-round series against the Dallas Wings in the 2022 WNBA Playoffs. Although the Sun (25-11) have had their fair share of bumps along the way, the team is tough and has adjusted well enough to earn the No. 3 seed. Meanwhile, the No. 6 seed Wings (18-18) are entering their second consecutive WNBA playoffs and have their best record since moving to Dallas in 2017. However, they've entered the postseason without their star player Arike Ogunbowale and will be without her for at least the first round. The Wings won two out of three encounters this season, but anything could happen in the playoffs. Cowboys 2022 depth chart: Noah Brown, rookies Jalen Tolbert and Dennis Houston fighting for No. 3 WR spot
The Dallas Cowboys underwent some dramatic changes this offseason, cutting ties with four starters who had made significant impacts on the team over the past several seasons. They enter the 2022 campaign at an inflection point for the Mike McCarthy era, as Jerry Jones has repeatedly made it clear that he has high expectations for his team and if they are not met, he has ... other options. (Hello there, Sean Payton.) Both Jerry and Stephen Jones have maintained that the 2022 Cowboys should be as good or better than the 2021 version, despite the losses of Amari Cooper , Connor Williams , La'el Collins , and Randy Gregory . The replacements for those players are mostly rookies or journeyman veterans, so it remains to be seen whether this team can actually live up to those assertions. With all that in mind, let's take an early look at what the team's depth chart looks like at the moment. Washington Mystics prepare for first-round ‘chess match’ in playoff series vs. Seattle Storm
For Washington Mystics coach Mike Thibault , facing off against the Seattle Storm in their first-round, best-of-three playoff series will require his best chess-master impersonation. “Seattle’s like a chess match the entire game,” Thibault told reporters Tuesday ahead of his eighth appearance in post-season play with Washington since 2013. “You know, ‘Okay, they did this; what are we going to do? We do this; what are they going to do?’ They always present a challenge of always having an answer for something.” 2022 WNBA Playoffs: How to watch, schedule, bracket and more In a matchup of No. 4 vs. No. 5, respectively, Seattle and Washington arrive at the playoffs with matching records (22-14) and similar bragging rights, having combined to win three of the last four championships. Michigan QB battle: Jim Harbaugh suggests Cade McNamara, J.J. McCarthy competition could run into season
USA Today Sports Images Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh is open to the possibility of playing both Cade McNamara and J.J. McCarthy well into the 2022 season if the heated quarterback battle cannot be solved by Week 1 against Colorado State . McNamara, a senior, and McCarthy, a sophomore, have been competing hard this offseason to be QB1 after sharing snaps last season. "This is a very good unique situation. We have two quarterbacks that are playing at a high starter level and we're gonna keep competing and it's possible there's a starter by the first game, and then possible that it plays into the season." Harbaugh said Wednesday , per MLive.com. "Then we pick the one that's gonna help the team win, who's gonna be the best person to play quarterback to win the game." McNamara took the lion's share of snaps in his first full season as a starter in 2021, completing 64.2% of his 327 passes for 2,576 yards and 15 touchdowns while leading the Wolverines to the College … [Read more...] about Michigan QB battle: Jim Harbaugh suggests Cade McNamara, J.J. 2022 WNBA playoffs: Sabrina Ionescu, Liberty stun Sky in Game 1 with fourth-quarter comeback
Getty Images The New York Liberty snuck into the playoffs with a record four games under .500 and were major underdogs against the defending champion Chicago Sky. Anything can happen in the postseason, though, especially in a short best-of-three series. Something did happen on Wednesday night, as the Liberty stunned the Sky with a late fourth-quarter comeback to win 98-91 and take a 1-0 lead. After Courtney Vandersloot scored to give the Sky a 91-85 lead with 3:31 remaining, it seemed the veteran squad would pull away and survive a scare in the first game of their title defense. Instead, the Liberty held them scoreless the rest of the way and closed the game on a 13-0 run that left Wintrust Arena silent. Sabrina Ionescu finished with 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists to lead the way, while Natasha Howard went for 22 points and seven rebounds. Betnijah Laney added 17 points, five rebounds and five assists, and the Liberty as a team went 11 of 25 from 3-point land. … [Read more...] about 2022 WNBA playoffs: Sabrina Ionescu, Liberty stun Sky in Game 1 with fourth-quarter comeback
