Kevin Durant may have given Brooklyn a two-team wish list with his trade demand — Phoenix and Miami — but the Nets are under no obligation to abide by his wishes. Durant is under contract for four more years, and the Nets’ priority must be to get the best return in a trade package they can. Which is why the Toronto Raptors are in the conversation . The Raptors — rightfully — believe they can put together a more enticing trade package than any other team, reports Michael Grange at SportsNet . On top of ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reporting Friday that the Raptors are ‘lurking’ in the background of the Kevin Durant trade discussions that have held the NBA hostage in recent days, I can confirm that not only are the Raptors ‘lurking,’ but they also feel they can put together the best package of assets the Brooklyn Nets are likely to get. Confidence isn’t the word for it, but optimism might be. The Raptors’ offer would be based around All-NBA forward Pascal Siakam and wing … [Read more...] about Report: Raptors believe they can make best offer for Kevin Durant

Best NHL trades of the decade 2010s | ProHockeyTalk | NBC Sports
As 2019 comes to a close, we’re taking a look back at the past decade. We’ll remember the best players and teams, most significant goals, and biggest transactions that have happened since 2010. Let us know your memories in the comments. Best Hockey Trades Seth Jones for Ryan Johansen The Nashville Predators and Columbus Blue Jackets each had a glaring need and were able to help each other when Seth Jones and Ryan Johansen were traded for one another. From Columbus’ perspective, Johansen was not a favorite of coach John Tortorella and already had a lengthy contract dispute. Nashville had an abundance of talent on the blueline and needed to find a top line centerman. When a trade of this magnitude happens, one team usually regrets the move but, in this situation, both teams were left quite pleased. Martin St. Louis for Ryan Callahan It takes a lot of extenuating circumstances for two teams in the thick of a playoff race to trade their captains, but in 2014, the … [Read more...] about Best NHL trades of the decade 2010s | ProHockeyTalk | NBC Sports
Jesse Puljujarvi is the player you want to trade for this offseason
It seems quite likely that Jesse Puljujarvi has played his last game as a member of the Edmonton Oilers. There are a number of factors at play here including Edmonton’s salary cap crunch, his status as a restricted free agent, as well as the fact there seems to be an equal amount of mutual frustration from both sides. When there is this much smoke, there is usually a reason for it. Assuming the Oilers do move him in the coming days, weeks, or months, it has the potential to be a regrettable move for them and a nice win for the team that acquires him on the cheap. Just how cheap? According to Sportsnet’s Mark Spector this past week, the market for Puljujarvi seems to range somewhere between a second-or third-round pick , which is a price that almost any team in the league should be willing to gamble on. They should be willing to do that even if the price is higher. For starters, the odds of a second-or third-round pick (or even a mid-late first-round pick) turning into a … [Read more...] about Jesse Puljujarvi is the player you want to trade for this offseason

Women’s Hockey World Cup: India, England Play Out 1-1 Draw | Hockey News
The Indian women's hockey team played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw against England in its opening match of the FIH World Cup here on Sunday. England took the lead through Isabella Petter in the ninth minute before Vandana Katariya equalised for India in the 28th minute. There was hardly anything to differentiate between the two sides in the first two quarters as they matched each other stick for stick. The Indians had the first shy at the goal as early as in the first minute in the form of a penalty corner, but they wasted the opportunity. Minutes later, skipper Savita made a fine save in front of the goal to deny the English women. After a neck and neck fight it was England who took the lead through Petter who neatly deflecting in a ball from outside the 'D'. India responded brilliantly and secured back-to-back penalty corners seconds later, but Gurjit Kaur was first denied by the post and then by English goalkeeper Hinch. Islanders playoff run puts Lou Lamoriello GM of the Year work on display
While his Islanders are in the middle of their deepest playoff run in ages, Lou Lamoriello received the 2020 GM of the Year Award on Saturday. Considering how a GM’s job is to manage the present and the future (and trifling/thrifty/erratic/etc. owners), it normally feels strange to hand out such an honor for the year. But, in Lamoriello’s case, it’s oddly fitting. That’s because time will tell if his investments will work out in the long-term, but right now? Yeah, his moves are looking pretty spiffy. You’ll get another chance to observe the fruits of Lamoriello’s labor as the Islanders take on the Lightning in Game 4 on Saturday (3 p.m. ET – NBC: livestream ). [ NBC 2020 STANLEY CUP PLAYOFF HUB ] Recent bets paying off … so far Consider trade deadline( -ish ) additions in Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Andy Greene .
