India vs West Indies Highlights, 1st Test Day 2: India In Control As Windies Lose 6 Wickets For Under 100

· October 5, 2018 ·

India vs West Indies Highlights: Mohammed Shami dismissed both the Windies openers early. © AFP After dominating with the bat for five sessions, Indian bowlers ripped apart the inexperienced Windies batting line-up as the visitors ended Day 2 of the first Test at Rajkot with 94 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets. The Windies batsmen seemed clueless against the Indian bowlers, losing wickets at regular intervals in the final session of the day. After India declared their first innings on a mammoth 649-9 at tea, the Windies got off to a worst possible start, losing both their openers inside the first five overs. Mohammed Shami bowled was almost unplayable at times, dismissing skipper Kraigg Brathwaite (2) and Kieran Powell (1) in his successive overs. Post Shami's opening burst, spinners took charge and ran through the Windies middle-order. Shimron Hetmyer (10), Sunil Ambris (12) and Shane Dowrich (10) got out cheaply, leaving their side reeling at 74 for six. … [Read more...] about India vs West Indies Highlights, 1st Test Day 2: India In Control As Windies Lose 6 Wickets For Under 100

Pakistan Vs Sri Lanka: Abid Ali becomes first cricketer to slam a ton on ODI, Test debut

· December 15, 2019 ·

Playing against Sri Lanka in the first Test in Rawalpindi, the 32-year-old cricketer hit Lanka pacer, Vishwa Fernando, for a boundary and then drove him through cover for two to complete his hundred. After getting to his maiden Test ton, Ali raised his hands in jubilation before kneeling on the ground to offer a prayer of gratitude. His hundred came in 267 minutes, laced with 11 boundaries, and was the highlight of a Test badly affected by bad weather. This is Pakistan's first home match in the long form of the game since the 2009 attack on the visiting Sri Lanka team. The rain-affected game ended in a tame draw against the same opponents. Pakistan finished at 252-2, with stylish Babar Azam notching up his third Test century with a boundary against spinner Dilruwan Perera. Azam ended with 102 not out, which came in 151 minutes of punishing batting spiced by 14 crisp boundaries. Australia vs New Zealand: Australia in control of first Test despite late collapse

· December 14, 2019 ·

Eleven wickets fell at Perth Stadium on Saturday, the excellent Mitchell Starc (5-52) claiming his 13th five-wicket Test haul as the tourists were dismissed for 166 in the first session - Ross Taylor making 80. Australia were cruising with Labuschagne (50) and Joe Burns (53) at the crease, but slumped from 131-1 to 167-6 by the close, Tim Southee taking 4-63 and Neil Wagner 2-40. 1 45882 Tim Paine's side, without Josh Hazlewood for the rest of the match due to a hamstring injury, remain in complete control despite that late flurry of wickets, leading by a mammoth 417 runs. The Black Caps had resumed in deep trouble on 109-5 and they were soon six down when BJ Watling chopped on to a sharp delivery from Pat Cummins. Taylor added only 14 runs to his overnight total before edging Nathan Lyon to Steve Smith at first slip - and Colin de Grandhomme was caught by the former Australia skipper on 23 when he contentiously became Starc's fifth victim. Third umpire Marais Erasmus upheld Aleem … [Read more...] about Australia vs New Zealand: Australia in control of first Test despite late collapse

Australia ‘are moving in the right direction’ – Tim Paine

· December 15, 2019 ·

3:36 PM GMTAndrew McGlashan in PerthFacebookTwitterFacebook MessengerPinterestEmailprintTim Paine lauded the efforts of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, plus the vital role of Nathan Lyon, after his three-man attack wrapped up a thumping victory against New Zealand in Perth. He admitted he kept one eye on the workloads of his quicks after Josh Hazlewood went down in his second over of the match but was confident they would get through the hard yards. They did it with such effect that, across two innings, Australia only bowled 120.5 overs in the match and earned an extra day off to recover.Hazlewood had already made one breakthrough before he pulled up after eight deliveries on the second day and Paine conceded he glanced around the field at the options he had up his sleeve. In the end, he dipped into Matthew Wade, Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head at different times but the majority of the work was done by his remaining big three who are now the three leading wicket-takers for the … [Read more...] about Australia ‘are moving in the right direction’ – Tim Paine

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka, 1st Test: Abid Ali makes history on debut, Babar Azam dazzles in Rawalpindi draw

· December 15, 2019 ·

Abid was one of three players to reach a century on the fifth day in Rawalpindi, Dhananjaya de Silva (102 not out) having done so for the tourists in the morning session before Sri Lanka declared their first innings on 308-6. Pakistan lost Shan Masood for a duck at the start of their reply but opening partner Abid, along with Babar Azam, capitalised on the opportunity to spend some time in the middle knowing the result of the contest was already a formality. 1 47169 The pair came together following the departure of Azhar Ali for 36, the Pakistan captain caught at short midwicket off the bowling of Lahiru Kumara to leave the score at 90-2. However, Sri Lanka failed to make any further inroads into the home line-up before play was called off early due to bad light. Having made 112 on his first ODI appearance for his country against Australia back in March, Abid marked his Test bow with an unbeaten 109 from 201 deliveries. His knock included 11 fours, while he happily played second fiddle … [Read more...] about Pakistan vs Sri Lanka, 1st Test: Abid Ali makes history on debut, Babar Azam dazzles in Rawalpindi draw
