After the success in Chennai, Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin starred once again as they helped India beat England by 10 wickets on Thursday at the Motera in Ahmedabad. Both Axar and Ashwin started off from where they left in the second Test in Chennai as they picked 18 out of the 20 English wickets among them to wrap up the game in under two days. First, it started with the English batting collapse on the first day after they won the toss. The tourists were shot out for 112 runs as local hero Axar picked up six wickets. Ashwin chipped in with three while 100th Test man Ishant Sharma got things started with the first wicket of Dom Sibley in the first over of the match and that set the tone. For England, Zak Crawley playing his first game of the tour, showed class as he hit a brilliant 53 before he was trapped in front. In command of the match, Indian openers had the duty of ensuring India do not lose wickets till the end of the day. Unfortunately, the hosts lost the wicket of … [Read more...] about Ind vs Eng 3rd Test, Match Report: Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin Knock England Out of WTC Final Race as India Take 2-1 Lead

India vs England: Joe Root’s side suffer 10-wicket defeat inside two days after extraordinary afternoon in Ahmedabad
England succumbed to a 10-wicket defeat inside two days in the third day-night Test against India, after an extraordinary second day's play which saw 17 wickets fall for 176 runs. England were bowled out for 81 in their second innings on a treacherous turning track, and that was after some earlier heroics from Joe Root - claiming a maiden Test five-for - saw India collapse to 145 all out in the morning. It left the home side a slender target of 49 to chase, never enough runs for England to play with and defeat knocks them out of contention in the ICC World Test Championship, while they now trail 2-1 in the series heading into the final Test back at the Narendra Modi Stadium next Thursday. Third Test scorecard: India vs England Day Two in Ahmedabad - as it happened India had started the day 99-3 in their first innings, trailing the tourists by only 13, but they too came unstuck to spin, losing their final seven wickets for 31 runs, with Root returning remarkable … [Read more...] about India vs England: Joe Root’s side suffer 10-wicket defeat inside two days after extraordinary afternoon in Ahmedabad

ENGLAND'S TOUR OF INDIA, 2021 by Cricbuzz Staff • Last updated on Share Tweet With his 11 for 70, Axar Patel registered the best match figures for a spinner in a day-night Test. © BCCI Seventeen wickets for just 138 runs in two sessions - Joe Root with figures of 5 for 8, Ravichandaran Ashwin and Axar Patel combining to once again dismantle the England side for a mere 81 in the second innings. Spinners from both sides are having a great time on a turner in the Ahmedabad Test. India were 11 for no loss, needing just 38 more at the Dinner break on Day 2. On a wicket where a few deliveries exploded and some went straight-on, batsmen from both teams found it difficult to wade through the tough conditions. After India were bowled out for just 145, Axar steamrolled through England's top-order in his first over itself. Zak Crawley played back to the arm-ball and was cleaned up. PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth look to turn the tide at BWF World Tour Finals
World champion and Olympic silver medallist Sindhu, who had won the prestigious title in 2018, has been clubbed in Group 'B' alongside top-ranked Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei and home favourites Ratchanok Intanon and Pornpawee Chochuwong. Sindhu's comeback to international badminton after the coronavirus-induced break was not as good as she would have expected. The Indian, who has been training in London for the last few months, couldn't go the distance after losing a close opening match in Thailand Open, the first of the Asia leg. In the second event last week, Sindhu suffered a demoralising straight game defeat against former world champion Ratchanok in the quarterfinals and she will have to gather herself as she opens her campaign against magician Tzu Ying, who reached the finals in both the Thailand Opens. Former world number one Srikanth, on the other hand, has been clubbed in Group 'B' with Denmark's Anders Antonsen, Chinese Taipei's Wang Tzu Wei and Hong Kong's NG Ka … [Read more...] about PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth look to turn the tide at BWF World Tour Finals
