The LTA has appointed seven new members to its council as part of its drive to make tennis a more diverse and accessible sport. The LTA board-nominated councillors will each serve for a minimum of three and a maximum of nine years, tasked with helping to grow the sport, including coach development and support, volunteer engagement alongside inclusion and diversity. India vs England 4th Test Day 2: Rishabh Pant’s Century After Top Order Failure Keeps Hosts on Top
Rishabh Pant stole the show once again with some breathtakingly audacious strokeplay on the second day of the fourth Test at Motera on Friday. Pant reverse swept James Anderson to pick a boundary and that perfectly summed up the young wicketkeeper-batsman’s whirwind knock. The swashbuckling wicket-keeper batsman single-handedly put India in command on the second day of the fourth Test against England with his third century in Test cricket. Having started cautiously, Pant took the English bowlers to the cleaners in the final session to take the game away from the visitors and put the hosts in the driver’s seat. At stumps, India’s score read 294/7 with Washington Sundar (60) and Axar Patel (11) at the crease — leading the visitors by 89 runs in the first innings. India scored 141 runs in 32 overs in the final session of the second day. With wickets tumbling around him, Pant took 82 balls to reach his first fifty runs. But the next 50 came off just 33 balls as he decided to send the … [Read more...] about India vs England 4th Test Day 2: Rishabh Pant’s Century After Top Order Failure Keeps Hosts on Top
Friday 5: Could the pandemic impact future crew chief hires?
Among the lasting impacts the coronavirus will have on NASCAR is showing the sport it can be nimble with schedules, formats and races in ways few thought possible. Just as impactful, though, could be who will be Cup crew chiefs in the future. How those positions are filled could be changing as a result of these times. Hendrick Motorsports, Joe Gibbs Racing and Stewart-Haas Racing are among organizations that have promoted an engineer with no significant crew chief experience to lead Cup teams in recent years. But with many Cup teams no longer sending engineers to races in this era of crew limits, will that trend continue? Two of this year’s new Cup crew chiefs came from the Camping World Truck Series and two moved up from the Xfinity Series. MORE: Ben Beshore charting Kyle Busch’s course correction Engineers have been among those squeezed by NASCAR’s crew limits. In 2019, Cup teams were limited to 12 road crew members, not including the pit crew, at the track. … [Read more...] about Friday 5: Could the pandemic impact future crew chief hires?
India vs England, 4th Test: Rishabh Pant hundred powers home side to command
On a baking-hot afternoon in Ahmedabad on Friday (March 5), Pant made England suffer in the sun as he helped India recover from 80-4 and later 146-6 to reach 294-7 at the close. The 23-year-old reached his century, his third for India and a first on home soil, with a slog-swept six off Joe Root. That was the 115th ball that Pant faced but he perished to the 118th, miscuing a pull James Anderson to Root at midwicket. And angry though he was to toss away his wicket in such a fashion, day two of this final match in the series was emphatically Pant's day, India establishing a first-innings cushion of 89 so far as they attempt to build on their 2-1 lead. From 24-1 overnight, India were dealt two major blows midway through the morning session when Cheteshwar Pujara was snared lbw by Jack Leach, soon followed back by captain Virat Kohli, caught behind off Ben Stokes without scoring. England snatched another big wicket immediately before lunch, Stokes taking the slip catch off Anderson … [Read more...] about India vs England, 4th Test: Rishabh Pant hundred powers home side to command
What would a potential Jack Eichel trade look like? History offers some clues
As the Sabres continue to lose games and inch their way toward a 10th consecutive non-playoff season, the trade speculation surrounding Jack Eichel is only going to continue to build. It seems unlikely that a trade will happen this season, and it may not even happen during the offseason. But there is now enough smoke that it would not be a shock to see something happen before his no-movement clause kicks in before the 2022-23 NHL season. The Sabres need another rebuild, Eichel is going to be tired of losing, and it just seems like something that could happen sooner rather than later. So what would such a trade look like? It is a unique situation because players this good, this young, and signed long-term do not typically get traded. Players like that are franchise building blocks that teams tend to keep at all costs. There are not a lot of comparisons for such a deal. But we still tried to find some to try and guess an approximate value. Given the speculation every fan and … [Read more...] about What would a potential Jack Eichel trade look like? History offers some clues
