It’s not just a medal for us, it’s an inspiration: Savita reflects on historic Commonwealth Games campaign

August 9, 2022 by www.mykhel.com Leave a Comment

This incredible feat was the pinnacle of what was a roller coaster ride for the Savita-led Indian team who showed resilience to bounce back from a heartbreaking ninth place finish at the FIH Women's World Cup which took place in the Netherlands and Spain in July. The Indian team also took part in their last set of FIH Hockey Pro League matches in June in Belgium and Netherlands, where they finished third. Reflecting on the long tour, Indian Women's Hockey Team Captain Savita said, "It was a pretty long tour, there were ups and downs but it taught us a lot of things. We started the tour on a strong note by finishing third in our debut FIH Hockey Pro League 2021/22 campaign and then went through a rough patch during the World Cup. “Finishing ninth was disappointing, but it was equally important to move ahead and take positive learnings from the campaign to focus on the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. "We then had a short preparatory camp in Nottingham, where we … [Read more...] about It’s not just a medal for us, it’s an inspiration: Savita reflects on historic Commonwealth Games campaign

Pittsburgh Steelers depth chart lists Mitch Trubisky as starting QB ahead of first preseason game

August 6, 2022 by 247sports.com Leave a Comment

The Pittsburgh Steelers released their first depth chart of the 2022 season. While it is not an accurate indicator of how the regular season season will start, it certainly provides clarity on how the Steelers' roster might look when training camp ends. Free-agent signing Mitch Trubisky is QB 1 at the moment, and he is followed by Pittsburgh veteran Mason Rudolph and 2022 first-round pick Kenny Pickett , in that order. This is the first season the Steelers will experience what it’s like without having Ben Roethlisberger on its roster since 2003. With a rotation of those three quarterbacks, there’s room for competition and for coach Mike Tomlin to experiment with who and what fits best for Pittsburgh. Trubisky signed with the Steelers in March on a two-year, $14.25 million contract worth up to $27 million in incentives after spending the 2021 season on a one-year deal as backup to Bills quarterback Josh Allen. With that kind of contract, it was expected that … [Read more...] about Pittsburgh Steelers depth chart lists Mitch Trubisky as starting QB ahead of first preseason game

Notre Dame 99-to-0: No. 57 Jayson Ademilola, fifth-year defensive tackle – Inside the Irish | NBC Sports

June 6, 2022 by irish.nbcsports.com Leave a Comment

Listed measurements: 6-foot-3, 280 pounds. 2022-23 year, eligibility: A fifth-year veteran, Ademilola has one season of eligibility remaining, one granted only by the universal pandemic eligibility waiver. Depth Chart: Ademilola will start for the Irish at three-technique tackle for a second straight season after starting all 13 games there last year. Senior Howard Cross will demand a fair share of playing time, as well. Recruiting: The No. 13 defensive tackle in his class, per rivals.com, Ademilola could have gone anywhere he wanted. Of particular note in retrospect, Georgia chased Ademilola as it put together last year’s generational defense. A consensus four-star prospect and U.S. Army All-American, Ademilola also pondered Michigan, Alabama and Ohio State. CAREER TO DATE Ademilola has been a contributor since he arrived at Notre Dame, though that was partly a nod to the Irish lack of depth on the defensive interior back in 2018, especially once Myron … [Read more...] about Notre Dame 99-to-0: No. 57 Jayson Ademilola, fifth-year defensive tackle – Inside the Irish | NBC Sports

Seattle Seahawks unofficially list QB Geno Smith ahead of Drew Lock for Week 1 preseason

August 9, 2022 by 247sports.com Leave a Comment

The Seattle Seahawks are amongst a handful of NFL teams with quarterback competition in training camp. With Russell Wilson traded to the Broncos, the battle for quarterback is between Geno Smith , and Drew Lock . Smith got most of the No. 1 reps, and in an unofficial Seahawks depth chart tweeted out by The Athletics' Michael-Shawn Dugar , Smith is listed in the number one spot with Lock at No. 2. But head coach Pete Carroll says there is still time to evaluate both quarterbacks for the starting position. "They keep doing stuff everyday, they both make plays every day," Carroll told Seahawks.com. "I'm watching to see how it swings, if it goes heavy one way or heavy another way. The guys are doing a nice job, working hard to match up the reps with the guys upfront and receivers, we're working to get that done. Geno continues to be on top, he's ahead; he's been in the lead for all the obvious reasons that he's holding on to and doing a really good job of battling. … [Read more...] about Seattle Seahawks unofficially list QB Geno Smith ahead of Drew Lock for Week 1 preseason

Carolina Panthers coach Matt Rhule addresses timetable for naming starting QB

August 6, 2022 by 247sports.com Leave a Comment

Ever since Baker Mayfield signed with the Panthers, the questions have been on who Carolina’s starting quarterback will be: Mayfield, or Sam Darnold ? For Carolina, it might be a good problem to have to decide between two experienced quarterbacks after losing stability with the departure of Cam Newton . However, according to a report by ESPN’s David Newton , head coach Matt Rhule said there won’t be any decisions made on who the starter is between the two quarterbacks until the panthers face the Patriots in a preseason game on Aug. 19 "I'm not putting a timetable on the quarterback position until after we get back from the Patriots week," Rhule said after Saturday's scrimmage. "The Patriots week is a true litmus test for us. That will really show us where guys are." Darnold recently spoke about how he would describe the competition with Mayfield. “I think that’s kind of for you guys (media) to kind of paint the picture,” Darnold said. “If I was worried … [Read more...] about Carolina Panthers coach Matt Rhule addresses timetable for naming starting QB

Notre Dame 99-to-0: No. 65 Chris Smith, defensive tackle, Harvard transfer – Inside the Irish | NBC Sports

June 4, 2022 by irish.nbcsports.com Leave a Comment

Listed measurements: 6-foot-2, 293 pounds, per Harvard’s 2021 roster. 2022-23 year, eligibility: Smith has one season of eligibility remaining, having played in three seasons for the Crimson. Depth Chart: Smith was not on Notre Dame’s radar until the spring ACL tear suffered by junior Aidan Keanaaina . If that was the impetus to bring in Smith, then it is safe to presume he fits in at No. 2 or No. 3 on the nose tackle depth chart, behind senior Jacob Lacey and in competition with sophomore Gabriel Rubio , just as Keanaaina had fit. Recruiting: The Ivy League does not allow graduate students to play, so Smith was seeking a transfer as soon as Harvard’s season ended on Nov. 20. Initially, he committed to Minnesota in January, expecting to enroll there in the summer for the fall semester. Then Keanaaina was injured and the Irish came calling. Smith flipped his transfer commitment in April. CAREER TO DATE In three seasons, Smith racked up a total of 72 … [Read more...] about Notre Dame 99-to-0: No. 65 Chris Smith, defensive tackle, Harvard transfer – Inside the Irish | NBC Sports

Notre Dame 99-to-0: No. 68 Michael Carmody, junior offensive line utility man – Inside the Irish | NBC Sports

June 2, 2022 by irish.nbcsports.com Leave a Comment

Listed measurements: 6-foot-5 ½, 290 pounds. 2022-23 year, eligibility: A junior, Carmody has three seasons of eligibility remaining. Depth Chart: Any injury along the offensive line could force Carmody into the starting lineup, be it directly or via a domino effect. In a literal sense, he should be on the two-deep as the backup at one of the tackle positions. Recruiting: An All-American and consensus four-star prospect, Carmody chose the Irish over Auburn, Ohio State and Michigan, among many others. The Pennsylvania native spent much of his recruitment taking a hard look at his homestate flagship along with those other Big 10 powers, but his familiarity with Notre Dame always made a South Bend landing likely. Carmody’s older brother, Robby, has played on the men’s basketball team since 2018, though his career has been beset by injuries. CAREER TO DATE Carmody played in only the South Florida blowout as a freshman in 2020, making for his start one game into … [Read more...] about Notre Dame 99-to-0: No. 68 Michael Carmody, junior offensive line utility man – Inside the Irish | NBC Sports

Bears QB Justin Fields building chemistry with ex-Packers WR Equanimeous St. Brown at training camp

August 4, 2022 by 247sports.com Leave a Comment

Justin Fields enters his second year in the NFL with the Chicago Bears, and after sitting on the sidelines as a rookie and being a part of Chicago’s quarterback rotation that consisted of Andy Dalton and Nick Foles, Fields has earned the starting QB job in 2022. As QB1, Fields now gets the chance to build better relationships with his receiving core. At Bears training camp press conferences on Wednesday, Fields answered to which of the new receivers he’s developed good chemistry with. "I think E.Q., for sure — Equanimeous (St. Brown)," Fields said of whom he's built a connection with among the Bears' wide receivers. "I think also Cole, I think he's progressing every day, especially from last year — I think he's just getting better — and Byron (Pringle), for sure, and then Velus (Jones), too. I think those are all guys that I'm getting a lot of reps with and kind of getting to know how they run their routes and stuff like that." "He's been in this offense for a number of … [Read more...] about Bears QB Justin Fields building chemistry with ex-Packers WR Equanimeous St. Brown at training camp
