The Americans upset Switzerland, the top team from group play, 3-0 in Thursday’s quarterfinals in Helsinki. Jeremy Swayman of the Boston Bruins got the shutout, while Ben Meyers of the Colorado Avalanche and Adam Gaudette of the Ottawa Senators scored (Meyers twice). They play Olympic champion Finland in Saturday’s semifinals with the winner going to Sunday’s gold-medal game and the loser playing for bronze. The other semifinal pits Canada against the Czech Republic. Last year, the U.S. earned bronze for the fourth time in eight world championships dating to 2013. Jyothi Yarraji Smashes National Record For Third Time In 2 weeks In Women’s 100m Hurdles | Other Sports News
Jyothi Yarraji smashed the women's 100m hurdle national record for the third time in two weeks at the De Harry Schulting Games 2022 in Vught, the Netherlands. The 22-year-old Jyothi clocked 13.04 seconds under a headwind speed of 1.4m/s in the heats to better her own earlier national record of 13.11 that she had clocked while winning the event at the Loughborough International Athletics Meet in the UK on Sunday. The Andhra athlete, who trains under James Hillier at Reliance Foundation Odisha Athletics High Performance Centre in Bhubaneswar, had bettered Anuradha Biswal's national mark of 13.38 which had stood since 2002. That happened a month after her national record effort was not counted due to wind assistance beyond legal limit. She had clocked 13.09 seconds during the Federation Cup in Kozhikode last month but it was not counted as national record as the wind speed was 2.1 m/s, more than the permissible 2.0 m/s. In 2020 also, Jyothi had run below Biswal's national record … [Read more...] about Jyothi Yarraji Smashes National Record For Third Time In 2 weeks In Women’s 100m Hurdles | Other Sports News
Colin Kaepernick was eyed by multiple teams before Raiders workout where he impressed everyone, per report
After five years of being shunned by the NFL, Colin Kaepernick was finally given an opportunity to try to make a return to the league on Wednesday when the Raiders brought him in for a workout . Although Kaepernick doesn't have a contract offer from anyone yet, it's still very possible that he could end up returning to the NFL this year. For one, the Raiders were actually "impressed" by Kaepernick during the workout, according to NFL.com , which means there's definitely a possibility that they could end up signing him. According to ESPN , the Raiders were specifically impressed by Kaepernick's arm strength and overall conditioning. Despite the rave reviews, Raiders coach Josh McDaniels didn't hint at whether his team might end up signing the free agent quarterback, telling reporters that he doesn't talk about anyone not currently on the team. "We've brought in tons of people for workouts," McDaniels added during his press conference Thursday, "If there's an … [Read more...] about Colin Kaepernick was eyed by multiple teams before Raiders workout where he impressed everyone, per report
Asia Cup Hockey: India Beat Indonesia 16-0, Qualify For Super 4s | Hockey News
Rising to the occasion, Indian men's hockey team slammed six goals in the final quarter for a crushing 16-0 victory against Indonesia, a result that took the holders into the knockout stage of the Asia Cup but shut the World Cup door on Pakistan in Jakarta on Thursday. India needed to win the Pool A contest by at least a 15-0 margin to qualify and the young players of the side delivered under pressure. Both India and Pakistan finished on four points each in Pool A behind Japan but the defending champions qualified for the Super 4s due to better goal difference (1). Pakistan had lost 2-3 to Japan earlier in the day. The result not only pushed Pakistan out of the tournament but also dashed their hopes of World Cup qualification since only the top three teams here will be given tickets for the big event. India, being the hosts, will play the World Cup later in the year and hence Hockey India decided to send young players to this tournament for exposure. Dipsan Tirkey (5 goals) and … [Read more...] about Asia Cup Hockey: India Beat Indonesia 16-0, Qualify For Super 4s | Hockey News
