Former ND Defensive Tackle Louis Nix Shot; in Stable Condition

Former Notre Dame defensive lineman Louis Nix III was shot Tuesday night while putting air into his tires and was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. The former Fighting Irish standout, who played for Notre Dame from 2010 to 2014, went on to be selected in the 3rd round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. According to Irish Illustrated’s Tim Prister, his condition is “very stable.” Nix took to social media with a live post following the shooting Tuesday night while he was in the back of the ambulance. “I just got shot,” Nix said in the live video. “I was putting air in my tires. If I don’t make it, I really do love everybody. I can’t contact nobody right now. I love ya’ll, man. If I don’t make it, this is the only way I can tell all my family members. My phone is about to die.” Thankfully, as noted above, it looks like Nix is doing much better. The beach volleyball player who turned down Kerri Walsh Jennings

VIENNA — A fan holding a large beer gestured to Sara Hughes with his free hand as he watched the world beach volleyball championships. “That’s her,” the fan was overheard saying. “She’s the one who turned down Kerri Walsh Jennings .” Word has gotten out that Hughes had the opportunity to partner with Walsh Jennings, a three-time Olympic champion, but instead chose to continue with collegiate partner Kelly Claes . Claes and Hughes met as teenagers at a beach volleyball camp. Hughes, who had played since age 8, approached Claes, who was new to the sand, about a partnership. “The chemistry was there just like that,” Claes said, snapping her fingers. When it came time to pick a college, Claes initially committed to Long Beach State for indoor volleyball. But Hughes convinced her to instead play beach volleyball at USC. Cardiff Blues to rebrand as Cardiff Rugby from start of 2021-22 season

Cardiff Blues have announced that they will be known as Cardiff Rugby from the 2021-22 season. The Arms Park outfit have been known as the Blues since Welsh rugby's regionalisation in 2003, but they will now drop the branding and revert to the traditional Cardiff colours of blue and black. "Cardiff Rugby is a world-renowned brand and we simply have to leverage that to build sustainable success on and off the field," said chief executive Richard Holland. Boxing: Naveen Boora storms into semis, confirms India’s first medal at the 72nd Strandja Memorial Tournament

The 2019 national champion Boora outpunched Brazil's Eravio Edson 5-0 to enter in the 69kg semi-finals. With a place in the last-4, Boora has now assured at least a bronze medal. While Manjeet, who is playing his first senior international tournament, notched up an easy 4-0 win against Irish boxer Gytis Lisinskas to progress into the +91kg quarter-finals. The Haryana boxer Manjeet will play against Armenia B's Gurgen Hovhannisyan in +91 kg Last-8 match later tonight. Jyoti Gulia, Bhagyabati Kachari and Deepak Kumar are the other Indians who will play their quarter-finals bouts tonight. The 2017 Youth World Champion Gulia, who stunned two-time world champion Nazym Kyzaibay in the last round, will be up against Romanian boxer Lacramioara Perijoc in 51kg while Baghyabati (75kg) will face stiff challenge from world championship bronze medallist Naomi Graham of USA.
